Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: ONE DIRECTION(8)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is a most intriguing maiden contest as the principle contenders are all drawn wide and there isn’t a natural frontrunner which could lead to a false run affair. ONE DIRECTION showed that he has some class about him though, as the Snaith inmate finished strongly when producing an eye-catching debut performance in soft conditions over six furlongs behind a highly rated sort, three weeks ago. The well-related Silvano colt would have come on appreciably from that experience and he should love every bit of today’s extra furlong and much further. He has huge claims if overcoming his testing draw on his first venture around the bend.

Top Bet
Race 3: AMAZINGLY(4)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

There are some well-bred maiden fillies with fair form in this contest and a close finish is expected. The likely pacesetter AMAZINGLY showed smart improvement with frontrunning tactics last time and she gets the nod to go one better. The daughter of Argonaut stayed on well over this track & trip three weeks ago and she has further progress in her. She could enjoy a soft lead here and is again well drawn.

Race 4: KATIES JAY(4)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is a very interesting first leg of the Jackpot, featuring some quality sorts and a close encounter is expected. The classier types concede chunks of weight and that could tell in the final outcome. KATIES JAY represents the c & d Miss Marker formline where she stayed on for a close 3rd, just three parts of a length behind the runner-up CAPTAINS COMPANION despite jumping from a wide draw. She is 0.5kg better off with the latter and she should be very competitive in this field.

Race 7: STAR CHESTNUT(7)

Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is a very intriguing allowance plate over seven furlongs and without a natural frontrunner present, the eventual dictator could profit. The form points to STAR CHESTNUT who has to overcome a wide draw but he isn’t likely to head affairs and that is concerning. The Snaith inmate is only 1kg out at the weights with the best weighted runner JET AIR but he is solid over this trip and can raise his game here. He will need a ‘special’ ride from his pilot in a likely slow run contest though.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: ROMAGNA(3)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

Just nine fillies and mares go to post in undoubtedly the most puzzling event on today’s card. None of the entrants have won over the mile and most of them still have to convince that they see out this trip. The likely frontrunner could be RODEO DREAM from the Vaughan Marshall yard and she can profit by dictating terms. However, the narrow top selection goes to ROMAGNA from the Bass-Robinson stable and this bay filly will clearly have no issues with this trip, having shed her maiden tag over ten furlongs. The concern is that she lost her way in her last two runs, albeit she probably needed her latest effort. She had some decent post maiden form prior to that and she finished runner-up in her only c & d run.
