Top Bet
Race 1: OVER DRIVE(2)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

OVER DRIVE is obviously highly regarded by his conditioner as he went off as a short-priced favourite in his three career starts to date. He clearly has some niggles though and despite some useful form, he was gelded a day after his last effort. The speedy son of Var should have further progress in him and the runner-up of his last start, Candid boosted the formline with a subsequent victory.

Race 4: PURE LOGIC(5)

Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

PURE LOGIC has shown some useful form to date and he was making good late progress in his comeback run over a mile last month. It could pay to follow the progress of Braaistin in the prior event as this inmate from the Kannemeyer yard wasn’t far adrift of that rival recently. The bay colt should enjoy the extra furlong and he will be fitter now. He jumps from another decent draw and holds strong claims.

Race 6: SILVAN STAR(3)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The Glen Kotzen yard holds a decent hand in this competitive handicap where the stablemate’s SILVAN STAR and TENDER TRIP renew their rivalry. The former possibly found the seven furlongs too sharp for her last time but the mile suits her perfectly as she displayed with an impressive victory over subsequent winner LOUISIANA (3kgs better off) in her seasonal debut. The lightly raced daughter of Bold Silvano now has her peak effort and she still has plenty of scope for improvement. Top jockey Richard Fourie takes the ride.

Race 9: MOGOSTAR(15)

Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

There are many form runners in this competitive maiden sprint which ends the day’s proceedings but the KZN visitor MOGOSTAR could prove very tough to beat on her local debut. The Drier inmate was fancied when she stayed on strongly for 2nd behind subsequent winner Dame Eleanor on debut over six furlongs at Scottsville, ten weeks ago. That formline has fast become one of the hottest in the province and the Mogok would have come on appreciably from the experience. She should make natural improvement and won’t have any issues with this minimum distance. Her conditioner’s horses have acclimatized well in this province.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 3: RAHEEB(14)
Jockey: Grant BEHR – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

RAHEEB made the expected improvement when only weakening late after jumping from a wide draw over this trip at Durbanville, second time out. The 3rd placed finisher Rinjani boosted that form with a subsequent victory and this inmate from the Kannemeyer yard still has lots more to offer. He is well drawn on his track debut and could be a force in a competitive line-up.
