The son of Pomodoro would have gained from the experience and if Anton Marcus is able to keep him on a straight line, he should be the horse to beat.

Jockey: De Melo K – Trainer: Kannemeyer D
STAR IN WINTER showed very good improvement when finishing second over 1250m at Durbanville last time. She challenged strongly, but found one too good in the form of Pucallpa. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The daughter of What A Winter should have no issues with the drop to 1000m and in this type of field, can shed her maiden tag.

CANFORD LIGHTS is a good looking son of Canford Cliffs. He was unlucky not to have won last time as he was cramped on the rail and unbalanced at the 50m mark. He is a proressive type and with a bit of luck in running, he should take a power of beating.

EXCEEDER should have finished closer to the winner over 2000m last time as he hung in the closing stages. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He finished second in his penultimate run over this distance. He meets a similar type of field today and can return to winning ways.

PERSISTANCE has decent recent form lines to his credit. He showed good speed in his last start over 1100m, but was outrun late. It must be noted that Gem King has come out and won a Grade 3 since. He gets the services of S’manga Khumalo and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.
