Lingfield Best Bets

Race 3: EDEN ROSE (7)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: David Egan

This marathon has been made more straightforward with the defection of multiple scorer Blazon, and EDEN ROSE can be the one to cash in. Mick Channon’s filly ended the 2018 campaign by stating her liking for this surface. She landed a notable gamble here and looked to be crying out for further when second on her final start at Wolverhampton. On that basis, the 800 metre longer trip will be in her favour.

Race 4: GUMBALL (1)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs
Jockey: Oisin Murphy

A gilt-edged opportunity for GUMBALL to preserve his unbeaten record on the Flat. The grey has to give 6lb to Allieyf who is respected but it’s hard not to be impressed with the way the Nap put paid to Champion Hurdle fifth Verdana Blue on his Flat debut at Kempton. Furthermore, his trainer’s horses are running into form.

Wincanton Best Bets
Race 5: COMMANCHE RED (1)
Trainer: Chris Gordon
Jockey: Tom Cannon
While it’s difficult to know how good hat-trick seeker Miranda is, at the relative odds COMMANCHE RED is a more tempting proposition and the chestnut can successfully give away weight all round. He hasn’t managed to build on a convincing comeback success at Fontwell, but travelled well on his handicap debut when third to Phoenix Way at Plumpton. Freshened up since then, he won’t mind drying conditions.
Race 6: STORM ARISING (2)
Trainer: Paul Nicholls
Jockey: Harry Cobden
In what looks a straight match, STORM ARISING should have too many guns for Chef D’Equipe. There was much to like about the way the five-year-old shrugged off the attentions on the useful Vis-A-Vis at Wincanton and he has greater scope for improvement than his market rival.
Wolverhampton Best Bets
Race 1: GIVEPEACEACHANCE (8)
Trainer: Denis Coakley
Jockey: Scott McCullough
Strictly on the ratings, GIVEPEACEACHANCE has a lot to find but with Scott McCullough’s 7lb allowance the selection is getting plenty of weight from her rivals. Furthermore, the Coakley runner showed a first glimpse of ability when switched to the all-weather in a run that secured a handicap mark. It could be worth playing small win and place at sizeable odds.
Race 3: RAINBOW GIRL (10)
Trainer: Richard Hannon
Jockey: Sean Levey
Granted the effect of her sex allowance, the well-drawn RAINBOW GIRL holds the cards and will be hard to beat. It was over 1400 metres that she finished third on her latest outing at Doncaster but on both career starts she’s shown natural speed, suggesting the return to 1000 metres will not inconvenience her.
