LALA was impressive when winning her last start over nine furlongs on the polytrack and she is equally effective on the grass. She will have no issues with the rise in grade and the daughter of Visionaire is well treated on official ratings. She has her peak effort and should give another very good account of herself.
Race 4: KINGS EMPIRE(5)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Des EGDES
It could pay to follow the progress of Archilles who raced at Greyville on Friday night as that rival finished runner-up in the same event as the improving KINGS EMPIRE last time out. This chestnut colt was running on steadily for 3rd behind those two above-average types and he was in turn just under four lengths clear of the next placed runner. The son of King’s Chapel is effective on both local surfaces and he should continue to progress. His good draw is a major plus and that last formline is clearly worth following.
Race 7: BUFFALO SOLDIER(4)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Charles LAIRD
The three-year-old BUFFALO SOLDIER benefitted from being gelded as he produced a smart turn of foot to beat his stablemate Top Form going away in his comeback run over this c & d in early October. He was penalised five pounds for his exertions but certainly hinted that he has plenty more improvement to come. The Charles Laird inmate will strip fitter and he should be very competitive on his handicap debut.
Race 8: THE KING OF RANDOM(7)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG – Trainer: Michael ROBERTS
THE KING OF RANDOM is a lightly raced three-year-old chestnut gelding who didn’t handle the mile last time out and his conditioner wastes no time in reverting him to sprints. The son of King Of Kings had promising prior form up to seven furlongs and he should quickly bounce back to best at this much lower level. He is a confident first choice with visiting Gauteng jockey Van Rensburg taking the ride.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
This is an intriguing allowance plate which could turn into a boat-race between the two highest rated entrants, MISS VARLICIOUS and SHEZALEADER. The merit ratings and weight point firmly in favour of the latter but this minimum trip is on the sharp side for the Dennis Bosch inmate and that does open the door for the top rating who holds a cracking c & d record. The pair were separated by three parts of a length in favour of the former when they met over this c & d behind Elusivenchantment on 09/10. She is 2kgs worse off with the latter but can still hold that form. The pair should fight out an exciting duel.
