TOP DRAGON is edging closer to his first win. He was beaten narrowly by Ka Ying Warrior last time and he should give punters a good start to the day. FORERUNNER followed up his recent win well. If getting across from the wide draw without using up too much energy, he should be involved in the outcome of this opening contest.
7.30 – Race 2 | Class 2 – 1400m
Selections: 1/6/5
HEALTHY HAPPY finished 1.2 lengths behind YOUNG CHAMPION last time. He is nicely weighted with apprentice Britney Wong aboard and should be one of the leading contenders. DANCING CODE finished third in the race mentioned above. He must also be strongly considered.
8.00 – Race 3 | Class 4 – 1400m
Selections: 7/11/5
SKY DEEP has finished runner-up in his last two starts over this course and distance. He is probably most deserving of a win. ISLAND BREEZES finished half a length behind Ballistic Win last time and it is encouraging that Joao Moreira has kept faith in the ride. LEAN MASTER is next in line.
8.30 – Race 4 | Class 4 – 1200m
Selections: 4/1/3
AHREN produced an eye-catching debut performance. It must be noted that Crossborderpegasus has come out and won again since. ENJOY GOLF keeps finding one better. He comes in at the top of the weights and could be one to fill the exacta spot. The South African bred PARTERRE can run into the placings.
9.00 – Race 5 | Class 3 – 1400m
Selections: 4/9/3
ARMOUR WAR EAGLE got up to beat Magnificent Nine last time. He remains in Class 3 and can give another good account of himself. ENDEARED has fair recent form on the All Weather. He is back on turf and it will be no surprise to see him in the winner’s box. TAMRA BLITZ is next best.
9.30 – Race 6 | Class 4– 1600m
Selections: 6/4/1
ORIENTAL SMOKE finished 1.8 lengths behind MISTER DAPPER last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights and can turn the tables on his recent conqueror. MASTER TRILLION finished 2.2 lengths behind LUCKY FIONN last time. He is 3kgs better off at the weights and there shouldn’t be too much separating them in the run down to the line.
10.05 – Race 7 | BMW Hong Kong Derby – 2000m
Selections: 2/1/3
MY WISH hit the front with purpose and looked a winner in the Hong Kong Classic Cup. He finished just under a length behind RUBYLOT on that occasion. The pair meet on identical weight terms and there shouldn’t be too much separating them at the wire. JOHANNES BRAHMS should enjoy the extra 200m on offer.
10.45 – Race 8 | Class 3 – 1200m
Selections: 3/2/8
CRIMSON FLASH finished 1.7 lengths behind MASTEROFMYUNIVERSE last time. He is slightly better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result. NUCLEOZOR is unbeaten from three starts in New Zealand. He is having his first run for the Danny Shum yard and merits healthy respect.
11.20 – Race 9 | Class 3 – 1200m
Selections: 3/4/6
TRIUMPHANT MORE won his last start narrowly and Lifeline Express recently gave the form a boost. MAGNIFIQUE has won both his starts in good fashion. He jumps in class but is clearly progressive and one to keep an eye on. SUPER INFINITY returns from a 3-month break and can show if fit.
11.55 – Race 10 | Class 3 – 1800m
Selections: 3/12/2
PRAY FOR MIR finished a neck behind ENTHRALLED last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and definitely represents good each-way value for Hong Kong racing pundits. The only concern is the wide draw. SOLID WIN comes in at the bottom of the weights and should be competitive.
