Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: DAWN OF A NEW ER (8)

Jockey: De Gouveia   Trainer: Verdonese E

DAWN OF A NEW ERA produced a promising debut effort when finishing second over this distance at the Vaal. He was slow into stride, but once he found his feet he finished his race off strongly. The son of Louis The King would have come on with the run under his belt and with the natural improvement that is expected, he should go one better.

Race 3: ENRICO CECCHETTI (10)

Jockey: Hewitson L  Trainer: Hewitson L

ENRICO CECCHETTI showed good improvement in his last start over this distance on the Standside course. He didn’t get the best of beginnings, but managed to find himself in front turning for home. He found one too good in the form of Syds Liason that day. The son of Greys Inn is likely to adopt the same tactics from his wide draw today and may be hard to peg back in the run down to the line.

Race 4: VARS VICKY (2)

Jockey: De Gouveia D  Trainer: Pettigrew S

VARS VICKY caught the eye with a good victory over the minimum trip on the Standside course last time. He showed pace that day and despite hanging in the closing stages, he drew off well. The son of Var will enjoy the extra furlong on offer today and looks to be above average.
Race 5: SOUTHERN CHARM (1)

Jockey: Murray C – Trainer: De Kock M

SOUTHERN CHARM was ultra-impressive when winning on debut over the minimum trip on this course. She showed good speed that day and the manner in which she drew clear to put the race to bed, was eye- catching. The extra furlong should suit the daughter of Flower Alley well and she looks to have some class about her. From her good draw of two, she should take a power of beating.

VALUE BET

Race 6: KAYLA’S CHAMP (4)
Jockey: Mxoli P – Trainer: Fortune A

KAYLA’S CHAMP was her own worst enemy last time as she overraced in the early stages. She is much better than that outing suggests. She finished 1 length behind RISK TAKER in her penultimate start and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for the tables to be turned. She will enjoy the drop to the mile and with Piere Strydom in the saddle, she should be the one to beat.
