Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: DOLPHIN(3)
Jockey: Munger R – Trainer: Sage R R

DOLPHIN benefitted from the break and he bounced back to his best form with a promising last run on this track. He was outrun late into 2nd over six furlongs that day and should strip much fitter. The Trippi gelding could enjoy being equipped with blinkers over this minimum distance and his good draw is an obvious plus. Interestingly, he is his stable’s solitary entrant on this card.

Race 5: ANGEL’S POWER(1)
Jockey: Delpech A – Trainer: Wiid B O

ANGEL’S POWER is a top quality colt who unfortunately lost his unbeaten record when getting going too late and being beaten a head over 1300m at the Vaal, five weeks ago. Nevertheless, he should continue to improve and still has plenty more to offer. It is interesting that this is the fourth consecutive time that he races on a different track but has experience around the bend and that will definitely stand him in good stead. The weights suggest that he has some work to do to win it but he could be equal to the task.

Jockey: Zackey C – Trainer: Zaki D

LEILA’S CHARGER is highly regarded by her conditioner and her debut effort proved exactly why. The imported daughter of Charge Forward found plenty of betting support over 1160m on the standside track that day and she quickened impressively to romp to an effortless victory. She takes a considerable rise in class but clearly has plenty more to offer and is drawn in pole position on her track debut. The Dominic Zaki inmate could be worth following during the summer.

Race 9: JOAN RANGER(5)

Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Houdalakis M N

JOAN RANGER made smart improvement when she led throughout to crush a decent maiden field over seven furlongs at the Vaal, second time out. The well-related daughter of Horse Chestnut was deservedly given a high merit rating but she has plenty more potential and her pace will help her greatly on this track. Her pedigree suggests that she will relish this extra furlong and the bay filly deserves plenty of respect.

Jockey: Mxothwa L – Trainer: Anderson E G

SECRET ANGEL is a long-time maiden but she has some useful recent form on this track and jumps from gate 1 with a top apprentice in the saddle. Furthermore, her conditioner broke a barren spell with a winner recently and the bay mare should be competitive.
