Race 4: BIRD ALLEY(10)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: St John GRAY

BIRD ALLEY is handling her racing extremely well as she contests her fourth career outing within this month of February. It must be noted that she stayed on for a good 2nd over a mile behind Shelly at the Vaal, seven days ago. The daughter of Jam Alley is improving rapidly with each effort and her pedigree suggests that she will love every bit of today’s distance. Her track experience will stand her in good stead and she could take some beating from her midfield draw.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON – Trainer: St John GRAY
is closing in on a deserved maiden victory and he was probably mistimed when caught late over seven furlongs at the Vaal, seven days ago. This shorter run-in will suit him much better despite his track record suggesting otherwise and the three-year-old gelding could take a power of beating from his good draw.

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Grant MAROUN
has faced stronger in her last two runs and she drops to a suitable level today. She had solid credentials prior to those efforts and is c & d suited. The five-year-old mare has cracked a good draw and she could take some beating with Fortune in the saddle.

Race 8: MOD BARLEY(1)

Jockey: Brandon LERENA – Trainer: Paul PETER

The speedy and ultra-consistent MOD BARLEY has solid recent credentials in much stronger company and he holds strong claims in this handicap. The son of Antonius Pius deservedly shoulders top weight and he had one solid performance on this track. The bay gelding has cracked the best draw.

Race 7: LADIES CLUB(5)

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

The track specialist LADIES CLUB was always going to be outclassed at plate level over this c & d last time but she had solid handicap form prior to that. She drops significantly in class today and the likely strong gallop will play right into her hands. The four-year-old chestnut filly should take a power of beating.
