THE SPECIALIST ran a very good race when second over 1600m in the Grade 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes last time. The son of The United States is having his first run for the Sean Tarry stable. He should have no issues with the drop to 1200m. He is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating.

Jockey: S Khumalo – Trainer: J A Janse v/Vuuren

CRUSADE’S STAR followed up his maiden win with a good third-place finish over this C&D. It must be noted that there have been multiple winners from that form line. He meets a similar type of field and from pole position, may be the one to side with.

Jockey: K Matsunyane – Trainer: C Spies

HIERKOMMIEBOKKIE is unbeaten from two starts for the Corne Spies stable. She set the pace over 1450m last time and drew clear in the closing stages. It must be noted that the horse that finished second that day has come out and won since. She is likely to race on the speed and can bring up the hat- trick.

UNZEN won a good race in his last start over 1400m on the Standside course, despite over-racing in the early stages. He has won once and finished second twice from six starts on this course. He comes into this race with match fitness on his side which will stand him in good stead. Gavin Lerena retains the ride and the pair can follow up.
