TOTAL PROTECTION made the expected natural improvement when finishing second over this distance on the Inside course, two weeks ago. The manner in which he ran on at the business end was encouraging. The son of Ideal World will be at home on the longer straight and he should have more to come.

NEBRAAS has won his last three starts well, the latest of which was over this C&D. He moved up well that day and showed good guts to keep African Adventure at bay. This is a prep run for the Grade 3 Gold Cup, but he is the class horse in the race and should notch up his eighth career victory.
Race 6: NAVAL GUARD (7)
Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: P Peter
NAVAL GUARD was unlucky in the Grade 3 Jubilee Stakes last time as he was carried outwards in the final 100m. He has won three times and finished third once from as many starts on this course. The son of Elusive Fort is classy and with just 50kgs on his back, he should take a power of beating.
Race 7: SMORGASBORD (1)
Jockey: W Kennedy – Trainer: P Peter
SMORGASBORD has very good consistent form lines to his credit. He stayed on nicely at the finish when third in the Grade 1 Golden Horse Sprint last time. He has won twice and finished second once from as many starts over this C&D. He is the class horse in this contest and should take a power of beating.

ALLEZ LES BLEU should have finished closer in her last start over this distance at the Vaal. She was slow into stride, had to switch at the 500m mark and hung in the latter stages. It must be noted that Love Bite has come out and won again since. Her penultimate run when finishing second over this C&D catches the eye. With a bit of luck in running, she should give the males a run for their money.
