FAR AWAY WINTER was ultra-impressive when winning at the second time of asking. That was his first start as a gelding. The son of What A Winter should love the extra 160m on offer. He does take on stronger, but looks to have class about him and should be up to the task at hand.

The son of Gimmethegreenlight is the best weighted runner in this contest and if not in need of the run, he should be the horse to beat.

ESKIMO PIE finished 1.2 lengths behind DUKE OF SUSSEX in his last start over this distance on the Vaal Classic course. He is 2kgs better off at the weights today and that should be enough for the tables to be turned. He won his only attempt over this C&D. If jumping on terms, he can notch up his fifth career victory.

BABY DONT HURT ME was not disgraced in her last start over this C&D. She raced from just off the pace, moved up well and was outrun late. The daughter of Twice Over has dropped to a competitive rating and with Muzi Yeni retaining the ride, she may find herself in the winner’s enclosure.
