Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: TANDANA(1)
Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Sean TARRY

Just TANDANA was very disappointing in open company last time but that formline was boosted by the runner-up Sao Paulo who emerged victorious subsequently and this inmate from the Sean Tarry yard could benefit from blinkers today. She showed above-average ability prior to that, including a solid 2nd against winners in her penultimate outing. The daughter of More Than Ready faces her own age group on her seasonal debut and she holds strong claims at best.

Top Bet
Race 3: ELEVENSES(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

ELEVENSES has done really well since changing stables but the short run-in of the inside track at Turffontein may have found him out in his comeback run, three weeks ago. He was staying on again at the finish after racing handy when beaten over two lengths over the mile but this longer run-in will suit him perfectly and Andrew Fortune retains the ride on the son of Trippi. The bay gelding seems to have overcome his issues at the gates and he looks set to take advantage of the best draw. He finished well for 3rd in his only c & d effort.

Race 4: SILVER PEG(1)
Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

Just seven runners head to post for this competitive handicap and the likely sedate gallop could play right into the hands of the favourite SILVER PEG, as he attempts to complete a four-timer. The still lightly raced five-year-old gelding completed his hat-trick in fine fashion with victory over nine furlongs on the Classic Track, early last month. The win earned him a six-pound penalty but he does seem progressive and could still take all the beating at this lower level.

Race 7: S’WAY(8)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Barend BOTES

S’WAY probably raced too soon when she was flat behind Lady Thistle three weeks ago but the short rest would have done the bay mare the world of good. She should have won her penultimate start over this c & d in a stronger field, but for numerous traffic issues, and the Judpot mare can atone today. Of course, her last run was just a mere five days later.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: CAPUCHE(11)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Craig MAYHEW

TRIP TO PARADISE had a great spell of form over just three weeks recently and he deserved a short break. His eye-catching win in his penultimate start on this track proved that he is equally capable down the straight and the Trippi gelding holds lively claims in this low-key handicap.
