Race 1: HARD BALL(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Johan A Janse VAN VUUREN
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Johan A Janse VAN VUUREN
HARD BALL has recently proven that he is best up to seven furlongs and he brings smart form into this event. The imported bay gelding tried hard with frontrunning tactics when he was collared close to home by a decent younger sort three weeks ago but can easily go one better today. The son of Choisir has track experience and he is the stable’s only representative on the card.
Race 4: BEFORE NOON(10)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY
BEFORE NOON expectedly enjoyed the step-up in distance as the Tarry inmate made steady progress to record a much improved second outing when trying the mile at Turffontein three weeks ago. The runner up Kings County boosted the formline with an effortless subsequent victory and this son of Await The Dawn should continue to improve. He will further relish this extra furlong and meets an ordinary line- up.
Race 6: PACHUCO(9)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Sean TARRY
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Sean TARRY
PACHUCO has struck up a fine partnership with this promising youngster and the pair finished strongly to beat subsequent winners Tommy Waterdevil, Crazy Vision and Arpad over a mile at Turffontein four weeks ago. The Tarry inmate was hiked four pounds for his exertions but he clearly has more to offer and can follow-up in similar company today.

Race 7: GOODNESS ME(7)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Barend BOTES
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Barend BOTES
GOODNESS ME showed vast improvement when equipped with blinkers as she quickened smartly to easily beat a few of today’s rivals at Turffontein under this jockey two weeks ago. The victory came at the expense of a six pound penalty but the chestnut filly has the headgear on again and she could still have more to offer.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 2: SINGASWEWIN(4)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant MAROUN
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant MAROUN
The long-time maiden SINGASWEWIN isn’t favourably drawn but he has been facing much stronger opposition at handicap level for some time now and he could be a huge contender back in maiden company. His best recent performance came over this c & d against winners earlier this campaign and the four-year old represents decent each/way value in this ordinary field.
