Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: TRICIA DUPONT(2)
Race 2: KONCEALED(1)
Race 3: IL DUCE(7)
Race 5: FIRST DANCE(8)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ETERNAL FIRE(1)

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Lucky HOUDALAKIS

ETERNAL FIRE was immediately rested after she faded badly at Turffontein last time. The speedy filly showed smart ability when caught late over this c & d in her penultimate run and the break would have served her well. She gets top jockey Delpech in the irons and could have a big say in this field.

TOP BET

Race 2: NAWAB(2)

Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Joe SOMA

NAWAB has made smart improvement with racing and he went close despite casting his shoe in his latest effort. However, the Tiger Ridge gelding was clearly unsuited to the tight Turffontein inside track but will be an entirely different proposition today. He ran on smartly when runner-up over this c & d in his penultimate effort and has strong claims of exiting the maiden ranks. His good draw is a major plus and Gavin Lerena retains the ride.

Race 3: DESERT SUNSET(1)

Jockey: Anthony DELPCECH – Trainer: Weiho MARWING

There isn’t much pace in this staying maiden contest and that could work in favour of DESERT SUNSET who returns from a ten-week break. The son of Kahal had good form before the break and he finished 2nd best behind a decent sort after setting the pace over further last time. He could employ similar tactics to great effect and his top class jockey will be wary that fitness may be an issue. That said, his conditioner has mastered the art of bringing them back ready and the three-year-old chestnut should go close.

Race 8: TABREEK(3)

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

TABREEK has proven his versatility and he brings solid recent form into this low-key handicap. The engaging of ‘Striker’ aboard the Mike de Kock-trained gelding further enhances his chances and though the bay gelding is struggling for his next win, he could start a warm favourite here. Whilst there won’t be any value about him, the four-year-old son of Redoute’s Choice drops heavily in class and he rates as the horse to beat. He ran on well for 2nd at a higher level over this c & d in his penultima- te start.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 7: TURBO TOM(6)

Jockey: Andrew FORTUNE – Trainer: Brett WARREN

Once again this is a very competitive handicap and many of the contenders can stake a serious claim. The strong pace should suit the veteran gelding TURBO TOM who has his third run after the layoff. He has performed well in two runs for the Brett Warren stable and clearly comes into the reckoning on the back of some solid c & d form. He is the stable’s only entrant on the day and can finish much closer to the speedy MANX PARK on their last meeting despite being just 2.5kgs better off at the weights. Andrew Fortune retains the ride on the Toreador gelding whilst Khumalo climbs aboard the latter.
