The Cricket World Cup qualifier has aready produced a few thrills and spills with a Test-playing nation on the brink of elimination.

With the top three teams from each group advancing to the Super Six phase there is still everything to play for.

Thursday 22 June

West Indies v Nepal

The West Indies will want to continue the perfect start to their tournament and avoid any chances for an upset.

Nepal are currently third on the standings but they have looked capable of troubling top sides.

The West Indies’ batting still looks creaky at times and Nepal might be able to put them under pressure.

To do that Nepal will themselves have to bat well with their standout so far being spinner Karan KC.

Verdict: West Indies

The Windies have looked good so far and should be able to get the better of Nepal.

Netherlands v USA

The Netherlands need a spark to reignite their campaign after a poor start while the USA have done enough to suggest they could threaten the Dutch.

Two Americans have tonned up in the tournament already with Gajanand Singh and Shayan Jahangir notching hundreds for the USA.

The Netherlands are out to rebuild with a number of notable players moving on and they haven’t got going just yet.

As the USA have already lost twice another defeat would almost certainly knock them out of the tournament.

Verdict: The Netherlands

I reckon this Dutch outfit’s quality will shine through here. Back them to get the job done against the USA.

Sri Lanka v Oman

Sri Lanka face an upbeat Oman team who currently top the standings in their pool.

This will be Sri Lanka’s second outing though, and they were dominant first up to put away the UAE.

Oman scored a huge win over Ireland this week and followed that up with another win over the UAE.

Oman have decent experience levels across the board but against a team like Sri Lanka this shouldn’t be a contest.

Verdict: Sri Lanka

While Oman were good value for their opening two wins but face a different prospect in this Sri Lankan outfit. Back the Islanders here.

Scotland v UAE

Scotland got up and running with a victory over fierce rivals Ireland in their opening match and are well-placed to progress.

They next face a UAE team on the brink of bowing out themselves following successive losses.

Michael Leask was the Scottish hero last time out, but it required many hands to secure the victory.

The UAE haven’t looked like putting up a fight since arriving in Zimbabwe.

Verdict: Scotland

Scotland will be buoyed following their thrilling win against Ireland and should have the measure of the UAE.
