How To Use This Betting Calculator
Select your odds format – here you use the dropdown menu to decide whether you want to enter your odds as Fractional (5/10) or Decimal (0.5).
Enter the odds for the first leg of your bet. Then click on the “Add Leg” button to include another leg. You can add as many legs as you like.
Enter your desired stake and click the “Calculate” button. You will get your total odds, your return and your profit.
You can switch between Fractional and Decimal even after you’ve calculated your bet if you’d like to see your total odds in the other format.
Understanding Odds
Betting odds are everything when it comes to sports betting. You absolutely have to understand how they work in order to confidently have a bet on any sport.
Simply put, they represent the ratio of your possible profit to the possible loss. Here at Hollywoodbets we make use of two different odds formats – Fractional and Decimal. More on these in a sec.
IMPORTANT: Remember, you'll always get your stake back for winning bets. There are some exceptions to this rule like when betting into a pool, taking an open bet or betting on the Tote. But for your run-of-the-mill sports bets, a winning bet will see your stake returned to you along with your winnings.
Fractional
You guessed it! Fractional odds use a fractional format to display the probability of a possible outcome. This is probably the most widely used format around and it’s really easy to understand.
Remember that the number on the left represents what you could win if you stake the amount represented by the number on the right. Some examples:
5/1 – You could win R5 for every R1 staked
5/2 – You could win R5 for every R2 staked
9/2 – You could win R9 for every R2 staked
11/1 – You could win R11 for every R1 staked
Decimal
This is the easiest way to understand betting odds, with many new punters opting to view their odds in decimal format. To calculate your winnings here you simply need to multiply the stake by the odds. A few examples:
