The Hollywoodbets Ultimate Fan Trip 2016 winners’ dreams became a reality, as they embarked on their journey to England on Friday 15th January, to attend the massive match between Liverpool and Man United at Anfield.
The team touched down in Heathrow, London on Saturday 16th January, before catching a connecting flight to Manchester. From there they caught a shuttle to Liverpool and arrived at the Holiday Inn Express. After settling down, the team explored the Liverpool area, visiting the Albert Dock among other places.
Sunday 17th January was game day, and the team made their way to Anfield early to collect their match tickets and merchandise. Our lucky winners were given hospitality tickets which meant everyone enjoyed a few drinks at the Reds Bar before the game! Eventually it was time for kickoff, and with the team sitting four rows from the pitch, they got to witness the likes of Wayne Rooney, David De Gea, Jordan Henderson, Kolo Toure, James Milner, Chris Smalling and Ashley Young live in the flesh!
Eventually it was a cracking goal from Wayne Rooney in the 78th minute that settled a win for the visitors, with Man United beating Liverpool 1-0! Six of the eight winners in the group were Man United supporters, and were very pleased with the result, while the other two having to drown their sorrows.
The competition winners leave England on Monday 18th January, and arrive back in South Africa on Tuesday 19th Janaury.
