Bulls v Pumas
25 June 19h00
Loftus Versfeld

To Win Match

Bulls 2/110
Draw 28/1
Pumas 7/2

Handicap

Bulls (-12.5) 17/20
Pumas (+12.5) 17/20

The Bulls will welcome back a number of first-choice players for their clash with the Pumas at Loftus Versfeld on Friday.

Jake White and his front men missed the opening round of the Currie Cup last week as his team partook in the Rainbow Cup final loss against Benetton, but the majority are expected to be back for this one.

Despite the fact that the Bulls team that did front up in the loss to Western Province was comprised of 21 Currie Cup debutants, they put on an admirable show before ultimately going down 24-48. Against the Pumas here, the return of some senior statesmen should make a big splash.

The Pumas were very impressive 39-10 winners against the Lions last week and Jimmy Stonehouse’s men will be tough to beat in Pretoria. However, the Bulls should have too much firepower heading into the final quarter.

Verdict: Pumas (+12.5) 17/20

The Bulls should win this but may struggle to clear this double-figure handicap against a very good Pumas outfit.

Griquas v Cheetahs
26 June 13h00
Tafel Lager Park

To Win Match

Griquas 11/10
Draw 25/1
Cheetahs 7/10

Handicap

Griquas (+2.5) 17/20
Cheetahs (-2.5) 17/20

The Griquas will look to upset the Cheetahs at Tafel Lager Park on Saturday.

Scott Mathie’s charges were typically good at home last week in spite of their eventual 16-30 loss at the hands of the Sharks. As usual, the hosts gave their opposition plenty to think about which could spell frightening news for the Free Staters.

Hawes Fourie’s men have been terribly short of game time recently, with that dreadful 35-43 loss to the Toyota Invitational side being the only game they’ve contested since the Preparation Series.

Heading to Kimberley without any real minutes behind them should see the Cheetahs fall prey to the Griquas here.

Verdict: Griquas 11/10

I reckon the Griquas will win on the board here. Some good value in the 11/10 on offer.
