Odwa on the Sharks v Griffons at Hollywoodbets Kings Park:

“The Currie Cup is a trophy they last won in 2018, and I’m sure they’ll be really focused on trying to bring it back to the Shark Tank.

“The first game is not an easy one, up against the Griffons who have been dominating the First Division. They’ll come to the Tank full of confidence to give themselves a chance.

“The Sharks have picked a mix of experienced players and some youngsters. Some of the experienced players have not played a lot of games, so it will be a tough challenge for them.

“But I do see the Sharks winning this game. It will be a close one, probably by 10-points.

“Let’s go the Sharks!”

Akona on the Blue Bulls v Pumas at Loftus Versfeld:

“The Bulls kick off their Currie Cup campaign against the defending champions at Loftus Versfeld. They’ve always had a good record against the Pumas at Loftus, but now they’re coming as the defending champions, so it should be a very interesting game.

“You can see the way Jake has selected his side, a very good Bulls side with a couple of Springbok players. Morne Steyn back playing, Sbu Nkosi, Cornal Hendricks. So he’s really taking it seriously.

“I think having finished in the semi-finals last season, they’ll be looking to go all the way and try to win the Currie Cup.

“We know what it means to the Bulls and what it means to Jake, so you can see the way he’s selected his side. It should be a very good game. I’m looking forward to it.”
