After a two week break for the opening rounds of the 2020 Six Nations, the French Top 14 makes its return. Darry Worthington previews all seven Round 15 fixtures below.

We pass the halfway point of the 2019/20 Top 14 season this week and Round 15 is could have a major bearing on the shape of the top half of the table as there are a number of clashes between sides in and around the play-off places.

Bordeaux Begles v Lyon
Saturday 15 September
Stade Chaban-Delmas

To Win (80 Mins)
Bordeaux 3/10
Draw 19/1
Lyon 26/10

We have an absolute cracker first up with log-leaders Lyon taking on second-placed side Bordeaux. Only two points separate the two sides on the standings, and should the hosts win this one they would leapfrog their opponents into top spot.

Bordeaux head into this one in slightly better nick having lost just one of their last five games across all competitions, with the defeat coming in Round 14 where they went down 22-14 away to Toulouse.

Lyon have lost two of their last five fixtures but head into this one off the back of a 27-12 victory over Toulon.

Verdict: Lyon 26/10
This is a bit of a speculator but I think Lyon just may take this one. I’ll be having a very small punt on this one, however.

Montpellier v Bayonne
Saturday 15 February
Altrad Stadium

To Win (80 Mins)

Montpellier 1/16
Draw 43/1
Bayonne 13/2

ADIM 141219 34 472B252812529

Montpellier will be looking for a bonus-point win that could possibly move them into the ‘top 6’ when they take on 10th-placed Bayonne.

The visitors have only won five of the 14 games they have played this term while Montpellier have won have also won five but have managed to register a staggering three draws.

Both teams have endured some patchy form of late with Montpellier winning just two of their last five games and Bayonne only winning one.

Verdict: Montpellier
I’m expecting Montpellier to come out on top by more than 10 points here.

Pau v Clermont
Saturday 15 February
Stade du Hameau

To Win (80 Mins)
Pau 23/20
Draw 17/1
Clermont 15/20

BAP 221219 93 041

11th-placed Pau will be looking to spring something of an upset when they take on seventh-placed Clermont.

The visitors come into this one having won eight of their 14 Top 14 games while the hosts have won just five.

In terms of recent form, Clermont have won four of their last five games across all competitions while Pau have won just two.

Verdict: Clermont 15/20
Clermont have been alright on the road this term and I think they may well register another away victory here.

Toulon v Brive
Saturday 15 February
Stade Mayol

To Win (80 Mins)
Toulon 1/2
Draw 46/1
Brive 13/2

Icon ADIM 040120 34 52

Toulon will be looking to bounce back from their away defeat to log-leaders Lyon when they take on a Brive side who have beaten Pau and Stade Francais in high-scoring affairs in the last two rounds of the Top 14.

The hosts have been in decent enough form since the turn of the year and haven’t really been affected by international call-ups.

Verdict: Toulon 1/20
I expect a big showing from Toulon who really have found their feet over the past few months. My money is on them winning this one by more than 18 points.

Stade Francais v La Rochelle
Saturday 15 February
Stade Jean Bouin

To Win (80 Mins)
Stade 4/10
Draw 18/1
La Rochelle 21/10

Stade will be looking to move off the foot of the table when they take on a La Rochelle side that currently occupies third spot on the standings.

The hosts have endured a miserable old season thus far winning just four of their 14 fixtures. They head into this one off the back of three successive defeats with the latest being a 29-19 lost to Clermont.

La Rochelle have won double the amount of games as their opponents and have won four of their last five fixtures. Their most recent victory was a 35-30 win over Montpellier.

Verdict: La Rochelle 21/20
I think the visitors offer terrific value at over 2/1 for the win.

Agen v Castres
Sunday 16 February
Stade Armandie

To Win (80 Mins)

Agen 11/20
Draw 18/1
Castres 31/20

The penultimate game of Round 15 will see 13th-placed Agen take on 12th-placed Castres in a game that could have a massive bearing on which of these sides is relegated at the close of the season.

Both teams have found wins extremely hard to come by this term with Castres winning five and Agen winning four of their Top14 fixtures.

There is some hope for both sides, however, as the hosts come into this one off the back of a 22-23 win over Bayonne, while the visitors have won two of their last three games across all competitions.

Verdict: Agen 11/20
I reckon this will be a tight one but one that the home side will come out on top in.

Racing 92 v Toulouse
Sunday 16 February
Paris La Defense Arena

To Win (80 Mins)
Racing 3/10
Draw 19/1
Toulouse 51/20

Icon F1D2083

We finish the round with an absolute cracker as fourth-placed Racing lock horns with sixth-placed Toulouse.

Both teams have been in fine fettle since the turn of the year with each side only losing once of the games they have played since the start of 2020.

In terms of their Round 14 results, Racing beat Castres 0-27 while Toulouse managed a 22-14 victory over the high-flying Bordeaux Begles.

Verdict: Racing: 3/10
Again this one should be a tight old affair. While I reckon Racing will win it, any plus line in the single digits is worth backing.
