PREVIEW: France set to stretch their lead in Six Nations as they face Wales

Friday evening’s Six Nations fixture is a pivotal one as a win for France would see France put one hand on the 6 Nations trophy while I win for the Welsh would well and truly throw the cat amongst the pigeons headed into the final round.

The Welsh Dragons currently lie fifth on the 6 Nations standings and have an extremely slim chance of taking the title this year. They played some decent rugby thus far but defeats to England (23-19) and Ireland (29-7) have pretty much ruled them out of defending their title.

Nevertheless, Wayne Pivac’s side could have a massive say in who bags the title this season as they play title favorites France this weekend.

Le Bleu have had a flawless start to their campaign beating Italy 37-10, Ireland 30-24 and Scotland 17-36. They have been by far and away the form attacking side in the tournament racking up 10 points from their three fixtures at an average of 34.3 points per game.

In terms of team news for this one, Wales Ross Moriarty and Taine Basham have been left out of the Welsh squad so we’re likely to see a number of backrow changes with Seb Davies and Josh Navidi the likely duo to replace the aforementioned pair. On the French side of things, reports in France suggest star scrum-half Antoine Dupont is nursing an elbow injury and sat out a couple training sessions on Monday and Tuesday.

Verdict: France

I really fancy the French here. They have been fantastic value this term and have shown a real maturity about them.
