The playmaker was part of the Bulls outfit that edged perennial United Rugby Championship table toppers Leinster in a one-point thriller at Loftus on Saturday night.

But it was out of the frying pan and into the gurney for le Roux, who went under the knife to repair damage from an old injury in his shoulder.

“We can confirm that Willie le Roux – this afternoon – underwent a minor repair in the shoulder/neck area,” a spokesperson from the Pretoria franchise confirmed on Monday.

“He is expected to return to full fitness within a short period of time as the procedure was a success.”

The 35-year-old took to Instagram to share a post-op thumbs-up on Monday afternoon following the procedure.

Le Roux is expected to be out of action for four weeks. Bulls talent Devon Williams is the likely candidate for his replacement at fullback for the upcoming weeks of URC action.

The Bok veteran is sitting on 97 Test caps and coach Rassie Erasmus has indicated it would be special for Le Roux if he could reach his milestone on South African soil this year.
