Crusaders vs Highlanders
In the tournament’s history, the Highlanders have only ever won in Christchurch three times. Even though the Highlanders will be on a high after beating the Brumbies in Canberra last week, they still don’t have the firepower to topple the defending champs.
Phaka Prediction: Crusaders to win by 8 points.

Rebels vs Sharks
The last time the Rebels played the Sharks in Australia they thrashed them 46-14. However, that was their one and only win against the Sharks. I’ve got a feeling that the Rebels will be very difficult to beat at home this season and the loss of Lukhanyo Am the Sharks captain for this one is a hammer blow for the visitors.
Phaka Prediction: Rebels to win by 5 points.

Chiefs vs Brumbies
I would say that the Chiefs are title contenders but they lack a solid tight 5, and that is going to cost them when they get closer to the knockout stages. On the flipside, the Brumbies’ top try scorer as well as the tournaments overall top try scorer is Folau Faingaa the Brumbies hooker. This is because of the Brumbies’ driving mauls from lineouts and their surges close to the ruck. That is exactly where the Chiefs are weak. That Chiefs backline though can tear any team apart.
Phaka Prediction: Chiefs to win by 7 points.

Reds vs Sunwolves
I burnt myself last week by backing the Sunwolves to run the Chiefs close. This week they are up against a weaker opponent that has literally travelled around the world to get to Brisbane. When I count the fatigue factor as well as the quality of rugby that will be displayed by these two outfits based on what they have on the field, this one should be close. I will give it to the home side.
Phaka Prediction: Reds to win by 4 points.

Stormers vs Jaguares
The Stormers have never lost to the Jaguares at home. I am expecting at least 25000 people at Newlands on Saturday afternoon. The home side has eight Boks and one Welsh international in its starting lineup so as much as the Jaguares are a threat, the Stormers should be able to handle them.
Phaka Prediction: Stormers to win by 10 points.

Bulls vs Blues
The Bulls know that a loss at home after opening their season with two away defeats will mean that they are sinking into a deep dark hole which they might never escape from. They had opportunities that they squandered in Durban in week 1 and in Cape Town in week 2. This is it for Pote Human and his charges. They are going to lay it all on the line.
Phaka Prediction: Bulls to win by 6 points.
