Phaka Predictions – Super Rugby 2020 – Round 7

Phaka Predictions - Kaunda Ntunja - Hollywoodbets

Our man, Kaunda Ntunja of SuperSport’s Phaka Powered by Hollywoodbets, gives us his Super Rugby tips for the seventh round of the 2020 edition of the tournament!

Chiefs vs Hurricanes

This is a huge game! The Chiefs dominated the Waratahs last week while the Hurricanes suffered a shock defeat to the Blues. The confidence that the home side will have going into this one will be a factor. With so many stars on the park but with both teams having similar weaknesses, I am going to have to go for the home side.

Phaka Prediction: Chiefs to win by 7 points.

Blues vs Lions

Blues have rested their captain Patrick Tuipulotu as well as fellow All Black Ofa Tu’ungafasi. Such is the confidence that coach Leon MacDonald has going into this fixture. I fear that the Lions will once again be a walkover. They honestly look clueless on the field and the likes of Rieko Ioane are going to have a field day.

Phaka Prediction: Blues to win by 15 points.

Sunwolves vs Crusaders

Scott Robertson the Crusaders coach has rested 6 All Blacks for this match that will be played in a neutral venue, Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. I am expecting to see an absolute thrashing here. I haven’t even bothered to see who the Sunwolves have picked because it doesn’t matter.

Phaka Prediction: Crusaders to win by 55 points.

Reds vs Bulls

The Sunwolves match is actually a curtain-raiser for this one. The Reds have a number of key players returning to try and dominate the Bulls who haven’t fared well in 2020 even though they managed to get their first win last week versus the Highlanders. I think that the Reds know what they can achieve here having put up a very good showing against the Crusaders in Christchurch last week.

Phaka Prediction: Reds to win by 10 points.

Sharks vs Stormers

A massive South African clash that has serious tournament ramifications. If the Stormers lose here they will have lost a lot of momentum that they garnered at the start of the season. Meanwhile, the Sharks are on a massive high and they will be very difficult to stop at home. I feel for the Stormers though because if they weren’t dogged by injuries they would probably win this match and win it comfortably. The Sharks don’t have strong set-pieces but they do have loosies and backs that can tear you apart. Neither team mind running the ball but that strategy will suit the Sharks more.

Phaka Prediction: Sharks to win by 7 points.

Jaguares vs Highlanders

I have lost all faith in the Highlanders. I honestly do not see them causing any problems for the Jaguares in Buenos Aires.

Phaka Prediction: Jaguares to win by 12 points.

Brumbies vs Waratahs

Big derby matches don’t normally produce big scores and plenty tries. This one will have a little bit more needle as the Wallabies have a new coach and he will be keeping a very close eye on proceedings as they develop in the match. At the time of writing the teams hadn’t been announced yet but based on recent form, you have to go for a Brumbies win.

Phaka Prediction: Brumbies to win by 8 points.
