Those teams involved in CAF Champions League duty are playing some catch up in midweek, along with other sides a bit behind with their fixtures. With two high profile matches in the mix, it makes for some interesting analysis and a great chance for a juicy four-leg multiple to grant you some midweek profit.

Bidvest Wits  15/10
Draw  21/10
Mamelodi Sundowns  18/10
Wits were handed a lesson in continental football on the weekend, with a 3-0 away loss to Royal Leopards from Swaziland. Downs prevailed in Champions League action against Seychelles champions, St Michel United, but would’ve been more aware of this fixture given its implications on their league chances. Both sides are hunting down Chiefs in top spot and Downs’ game in hand will be their only advantage going into this game. Wits have been fairly strong at home, in contrast to the previous head-to-head contests between these sides. Downs will probably still hold the slight psychological upper hand here but will need to make sure they are clinical in their execution come kick off. With both sides holding the talent needed to finish in the top three, I’d look to Both Teams to Score in the first leg of your midweek multiple at even money. Either side could win this but it will take at least a couple of goals to do so.

Kaizer Chiefs  11/20
Draw  5/2
Ajax Cape Town  52/10
It will be just over two weeks since Chiefs lost their unbeaten tag in the PSL when these sides kick off on Wednesday evening. SuperSport, who undid that record, subsequently lost to rock bottom AmaZulu, showing the unpredictable nature of the PSL. Ajax seem over their slight speed wobble towards the end of last year and a 2-0 home win against Chippa on the weekend will have reinforced their confidence even further. They travel to Soweto knowing how close they came to getting a point against Chiefs earlier in the season in Cape Town and will want to put up a firmer display this time around. It may a good time to face them, but I still feel Chiefs will be consolidating their lead to the extent where losing at home is unthinkable for them. We may get a tight game as a result of this and I’m predicting very few goals. If you’re into matchbets then Chiefs and Under 2.5 Goals should provide some good value. Otherwise a straight Under 2.5 Goals is the way to go.

Free State Stars  7/2
Draw  22/10
Orlando Pirates  8/10
Pirates impressed again on the weekend in their 3-1 win over tougher-than-usual Polokwane City. They’ll look to continue this run when visiting the nether regions of the Free State, against a Stars side that earned a credible draw away in KZN against Maritzburg United. The Free Staters are still in the struggle zone but valuable home points are top priority in staying up this season. The task will be a tough one and we may see some negative football in order to best preserve their chances of at least a point. Pirates should continue their dominant 2015 form and come out at full force. Bethlehem can be a tough place to play and Bucs’ last two visits there have resulted in 1-1 draws. I’m hoping the away side will come with better form and intent and give us more to watch. With the taste of the top three just two points away, I think it will be the motivation Pirates need to win this. Get on them for the outright win here at 8/10.

Chippa United  16/10
Draw  2/1
Polokwane City  7/4
Both are recent additions to the top flight and they’ve done well to make a good name for themselves in the PSL. Polokwane have had the better run of the two sides recently and sit five points ahead of Chippa in sixth spot. Chippa have struggled since the end of last year, conceding some serious ground to those who are only starting to peak form-wise. They’ll have a tough task here hosting a side that had the better of them when they clashed in the NFD. Polokwane will be well up for this and may see it as an old rivalry being renewed. They’ll be aware of Chippa’s weak goal scoring form and being second last in the league on just eighteen strikes from twenty games means that if Chippa can’t defend for ninety minutes at home, they’re going to draw at best. I’m going to bet against Chippa here and go for the Polokwane Draw No Bet. The odds won’t be a healthy as a straight away win, but the DNB will prevent you going out in the last leg of what should be a well worked multiple.
