Mamelodi Sundowns defender Anele Ngcongca has passed away after a car accident in the early hours of Monday morning.

The 33-year-old succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the car crash and died on the scene, while his female companion is in critical condition in hospital.
The former Bafana Bafana international recently completed a loan move from Sundowns to AmaZulu and was on the verge of being unveiled by the club, as he had already moved to Durban.
Ngcongca made 52 appearances for South Africa since making his debut in 2009, and played 104 games for Sundowns.
The versatile defender also made 279 appearances for Belgian outfit KRC Genk, and 24 for French side ES Troyes AC.
