Atletico Madrid and Chelsea are set to reach a compromise over striker Diego Costa.
The 28-year-old Spaniard has expressed his willingness to leave Chelsea and now looks set to rejoin Atletico Madrid and reunite with former manager Diego Simeone. With only three days left in the transfer window, the clubs are edging closer to reaching an agreement worth 30 million pounds.
The fallout between Antonio Conte and Diego Costa was based around his possible big money move to Chinese Super League team Tianjun Quanjian in January that would’ve made him one of the top three highest paid footballers. But the bid was snubbed and rejected, causing Conte to lose interest and faith in Costa. Conte then later revealed he wouldn’t make Costa a part of the regular starting contingency with the inclusion of Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid.
Due to Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban, Costa won’t be able to play for the Spaniards until January 2018 and Atletico are looking to loan the striker off to a possible Marseille, Everton, or AC Milan, once the deal is concluded.
