Belarus Premier League: Week 3 Preview

Week 3 Preview

Football has come to a screeching halt in almost every nation in the world with the exception of a few, including the Vysshaya Liga, the top division of football in Belarus. Matches are played as usual and fans continue to support their teams from the stands.

President Alexander Lukashenko stated the Eastern European country will only enforce a full-scale quarantine when needed.

It was an event-filled gameweek 2. BATE lost their second consecutive match, despite their Icelandic midfielder, Willum Thor Willumsson scoring the goal of the week. Meanwhile, reigning champions Dinamo Brest claimed their first win of the campaign. Let’s get to this week’s action and try to make some money.

Friday 3 April

Belshina 13/10
Draw 21/10
Gorodeya 21/10
Both sides will be hoping to chalk up their first points on the board for the season following back-to-back losses. Belshina forward Pavel Bordukov was made to rue his one-on-one miss early on with Torpedo Zhodino’s goalkeeper. The hosts were edged 1-0 in that encounter, however, Gorodeya were completely outplayed and lost 2-0 against Shakhter. The visitors clearly have problems at the back, take First Team to Score (Belshina) at 9/10.

Dinamo Minsk 1/1
Draw 21/10
Torpedo Zhodino 29/10
Dinamo Minsk goalkeeper Maksim Plotnikov made two errors leading to goals, just five minutes before the whistle for the first half. This left Dinamo wounded and 3-0 down at half-time. Dinamo continued to fight and eventually lost 3-2, finishing with 10 men after their central defender was red carded for a hand ball. Torpedo Zhodino recorded another 1-0 win, while Dinamo are yet to get off the mark. At 29/10 Torpedo Zhodino is the value bet of the week.

Saturday 4 April

Shakhter 4/10
Draw 33/10
Neman Grodno 7/1
Shakhter managed to secure a 2-0 win at Gorodeya, playing attacking football that created many chances, two of those chances were put in the back off the net in the second half. Neman Grodno won in the same fashion 2-0, both goals scored in the second half at home to Vitebsk. Look to the Highest Scoring Half market and back 2nd Half at 11/10, which offers more value than the favoured home win at 4/10.

BATE 3/10
Draw 38/10
Rukh 8/1
BATE need to shake off the cobwebs of the first two gameweeks and start proving why they are the most successful team in Belarus. The 15-time champions conceded goals to unfortunate mistakes away at Slavia Mozyr and were wasteful with chances at the business end of the pitch. Rukh were also not efficient with finishing off chances and lost 1-0 to Energetik-BGU. Target the Home to Score in Both Halves market and back (Yes) at 5/4.

Dinamo Brest 7/20
Draw 36/10
Slavia Mozyr 15/2
Champions Dinamo Brest edged Slutsk 1-0 thanks to a leaping header by Ukrainian forward Artem Milevskiy. Slavia Mozyr are buzzing following their 2-1 come from behind win over giants BATE. The visitors’ Russian spearhead Nikita Melnikov struck either side of the half-time break to cause the upset of the last round. Take Dinamo Brest Win and (Yes) in the Matchbet and Both Teams to Score market at 5/2.

Sunday 5 April

Energetik-BGU 17/10
Draw 47/20
Minsk 29/20
Both teams will be hoping to continue in their rich vein of form. With two wins apiece they summit the log in the top two spots. Expect a free-flowing game with both sides scoring. Minsk games in particular haven’t been boring for their fans this season, 3-1 and 3-2 wins. There were 13 goals scored in the last two meetings. Back Additional Totals, Over 3.5 Goals at 39/20.

Vitebsk 23/20
Draw 2/1
Smolevichi 49/20
Vitebsk will be hungry to get back to winning ways when they host newly-promoted Smolevichi. The visitor’s Russian goalkeeper Aleksandr Filtsov made a costly error parrying his first save into the path of Isloch’s Momo Yansane that led to the only goal of the game. My money is on Vitebsk picking up their first win of the season.

Isloch 8/10
Draw 23/10
Slutsk 37/10
Isloch striker Yansane scored a worldie to open his account in his first match and continued his great form with a scrappy tap in against Smolevichi last time out. Both goals saw the hosts claim maximum points in 1-0 wins. Slutsk will be keen to get back to winning ways after losing 1-0 to champions Dinamo Brest. A low-scoring affair is expected, back Under 2.5 Goals at 5/10.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 6/1
Shakhter vs Neman Grodno – Highest Scoring Half (2nd) 11/10
BATE vs Rukh – Home to Score in Both Halves (Yes) 5/4
Isloch vs Slutsk – Under 2,5 Goals 5/10
