While the Bundesliga can be rather one-sided most of the time, Bayern Munich is not immune to the odd upset. Freiburg top the standings and now they face a stern test in Borussia Monchengladbach, while RB Leizpig has their hands full with Borussia Dortmund after suffering a 4-0 thumping.
Friday 9 September
13/20 Werder Bremen | Draw 32/10 | Augsburg 38/10 (20:30)
Werder Bremen have only lost once this season, a 4-3 defeat to Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt, and re-established the form they had with a 2-0 victory over Bochum away from home. Niclas Füllkrug has now netted five goals in five matches for Bremen, so look to play the Anytime goalscorer market at 31/20.
Bremen have only lost one of their last 12 away games in all competitions, but now they must win on home soil. Augsburg is still winless this season and has tasted three straight defeats. Back Werder Bremen to add to the traveling side’s misery.
Saturday 10 September
5/4 Hoffenheim | Draw 26/10 | Mainz 2/1 (15:30)
After losing their opening fixture, Hoffenheim collected three victories on the bounce, and last time out did well to hold Dortmund to just one goal last time out. Mainz also faced a tough opponent in Monchengladbach, but they were able to get the 1-0 victory. The draw is the likely outcome here.
1/1 Eintracht Frankfurt | Draw 26/10 | Wolfsburg 5/2 (15:30)
Eintracht Frankfurt put on a display against RB Leipzig cracking their opponents 4-0. After fighting hard to seal a 4-3 victory last time out, plans seemingly played out a little less bumpy. Wolfsburg is yet to find a win, and I am backing the home side to get all three points and their third successive victory.
26/10 Hertha Berlin | Draw 29/10 | Bayer Leverkusen 9/10 (15:30)
Augsburg old boy, Marco Richter, diagnosed with testicular cancer just 55 days prior to their 2-0 over his former club netted in the 90th minute after coming off the bench for Hertha Berlin. While spirits are high for Hertha Berlin, bear in mind no team had scored fewer goals prior to last week’s result. Back the away team to seal all three points.
PREVIEW: Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Villarreal remain unbeaten heading into gameweek 5 of LaLiga
1/7 Bayern Munich | Draw 8/1 | Stuttgart 14/1 (15:30)
Stuttgart was looking for their first win of the season, and without suspended coach Pellegrino Matarazzo when they came up against newly promoted Schalke. They were unable to get across the line against Schalke despite going up by one goal early in the first half.
Bayern Munich may have faltered at Union Berlin’s home grounds, as many do, but against Stuttgart in front of their home crowd, there’s a backlash of goals pending. Back the home team on the -2 handicap at 17/20.
13/10 RB Leipzig | Draw 11/4 | Borussia Dortmund 37/20 (15:30)
Even though they have managed to retain key players and add an old face (Timo Werner) back into the squad, RB Leipzig’s start to the Bundesliga season is one to forget. The electrifying counter-attacking football we know them to possess is just not making ends meet.
Just one win in their opening five spells disaster after being thumped 4-0 by Eintracht Frankfurt last time out. On the flip side, Dortmund’s lack of control in their 3-2 loss to Werder Bremen seems to be rectified with back-to-back 1-0 victories. Borussia Dortmund Draw/Win Double Chance is the safe play at 11/20.
1/1 Schalke | Draw 11/4 | Bochum 26/10 (18:30)
Bochum’s head coach Thomas Reis is still waiting for his first point after five matchdays. After suffering a 2-0 defeat at home to newly promoted Werder Bremen, it’s safe to say his job is now on the line when they face a big name, but also newly promoted Schalke.
Schalke, like Bochum, is also winless despite managing a draw away to Stuttgart last time out. It feels like something has got to give between these two, and I am backing the home side.
Sunday 11 September
31/20 Cologne | Draw 24/10 | Union Berlin 7/4 (15:30)
The mood in the Union Berlin camp this week will have been through the roof! A 1-1 draw against the defending champions, with all due respect, is no easy feat for Union. They’re just a point off the log leaders, and although early days, are sure to want to keep the momentum going. Back Union on the Draw No Bet at 9/20.
12/10 Freiburg | Draw 26/10 | Monchengladbach 22/10 (17:30)
Freiburg sealed their third straight away win with a 3-2 result over Bayer Leverkusen. The first half was one to forget, but the dressing room talk sparked a fire seeing Freiburg net two quick goals just five minutes apart. The opposition equalized in the 65ht minute, but 24-year-old Japanese attacker Ritsu Dōan came off the bench to find a winner.
Freiburg has shown character and grit to get wins, and their opposition is on par when it comes to that. Monchengladbach has come from behind to collect points in two of their five matches thus far, but the momentum that the home side has built up will not stop here. Get behind the home win.
QUAD @ 13/1
Werder Bremen Win 13/20
Eintracht Frankfurt Win 1/1
Schalke Win 1/1
Freiburg Win 12/10
