PREVIEW: The German Bundesliga always has an upset in the mix

The German Bundesliga always has an upset in the mix, so we’ve gone as certain as we possibly can when betting is concerned. Bayern Munich faltered last time out, while Dortmund and RB Leipzig came out with wins! Let’s have a look at where to dabble with ‘certainty’.

Friday 2 September

13/20 Dortmund | Draw 7/2 | Hoffenheim 7/2 (20:30)

The Signal Iduna Park plays host to the first fixture of gameweek five. Dortmund defeated Hoffenheim 3-2 home and away last season and we can expect a lot of goals this time around as well. Dortmund have won three of their opening four, while Hoffenheim have managed three straight victories across theirs with a combined goal tally of 15 goals. Back Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 9/20.

Saturday 3 September

6/1 Union Berlin | Draw 46/10 | Bayern Munich 7/20 (15:30)

Union Berlin’s Stadion An der Alten Försterei is a literal fortress at times, consistently going on unbeaten runs that stretch half the length of a season. Last season they managed to put two goals past the Bayern Munich defence, but the opposition was too strong, netting five. The defending champions’ attack has only gotten stronger since, so take Bayern on the -1 handicap at 17/20.

9/10 Bayer Leverkusen | Draw 28/10 | Freiburg 28/10 (15:30)

Head coach Gerardo Seoane wanted his men to put their money where their mouth was after three consecutive Bundesliga defeats for Bayer Leverkusen. Die Werkself responded in tremendous fashion, dispatching of undefeated Mainz 3-0.

Freiburg will have their hands full having to face a determined side on home soil and back-to-back 1-0 wins over Bochum and Stuttgart does not look convincing. In fact, I’m not convinced of either side, and the Additional Totals market – Under 2.5 is my play at 14/10.

PREVIEW: The Spanish LaLiga rolls into its fourth week

12/10 Wolfsburg | Draw 51/20 | Cologne 43/20 (15:30)

Wolfsburg were in search of their first win of the season when they faced RB Leipzig last time out and failed yet again. A goal either side of the half saw them taste a second defeat of the season alongside two draws.

For the visitors, Cologne are in high spirits after qualifying for the Europa Conference League group stages before facing Stuttgart in a 0-0 draw. The Billy Goats are still undefeated, but three successive draws after their opening league win over Schalke is nothing to write home about. The away side on the Double Chance Draw/Win at 6/10 is one for the multiples.

17/20 Stuttgart | Draw 44/10 | Schalke 31/10 (15:30)

Schalke are finding life back in the Bundesliga quite difficult. One defeat, two draws, and a hefty 6-1 thumping in front of their home crowd last time out will surely sting.

The Royal Blues will have an opportunity to strike against Stuttgart who have not been in the best of shape either – winless this season with three draws and a loss, finding the back of the net just three times. I believe the draw is the most likely outcome.

18/10 Bochum | Draw 51/20 | Werder Bremen 29/20 (15:30)

If this fixture could be labelled, battle of the strugglers would do just fine.  Rock-bottom Bochum face 10th-placed Werder Bremen, but don’t let the table position fool you, a leaky defence has seen them concede 10 goals to date, the fourth weakest defence of the league, but scoring 10 goals is why they’re sitting midtable. Werder Bremen and Both Teams to Score (Yes) at 33/10 for the value bet of the gameweek.

PREVIEW: DStv Premiership action continues as we reach the sixth round of football

5/2 Eintracht Frankfurt | Draw 11/4 | RB Leipzig 1/1 (18:30)

It’s the match of the weekend in my opinion. Eintracht Frankfurt welcome RB Leipzig to Deutsch Bank Park in Frankfurt. Both sides come into this tie fresh of their first victories.

Eintracht put Werder Bremen to the sword 4-3 while Christopher Nkunku netted a brace for Leipzig’s first three points over Wolfsburg. These two will be hard to deprecate considering their results and quality in personnel. The draw is my play!

Sunday 4 September

15/10 Augsburg | Draw 24/10 | Hertha Berlin 37/20 (15:30)

This fixture is bound to be a contest of attrition. Neither side have showed decisiveness or quality in the final third. Two losses on the trot from either side spells desperation. Of the two, Augsburg’s 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen stands out as a swaying factor. Back the home side to collect their second win of the season.

12/10 Monchengladbach | Draw 26/10 | Mainz 43/20 (17:30)

Mainz’s Karim Onisiwo netted three in his opening three, but could not find the back of the net in their 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen last time out.

Borussia Monchengladbach, however, pulled off the upset of the weekend when they held Bayern Munich to a 1-1 draw. I was not surprised at all, if you read last week’s prediction, they were the team to do it in this very given time. Get behind the home team again.

QUAD @ 15/1

Bayern Munich -1 Handicap 17/20
Cologne Win/Draw 6/10
Augsburg Win 15/10
Monchengladbach Win 12/10
