Orlando Pirates head coach José Riveiro remains cautious despite his team's 2-0 away victory against Jwaneng Galaxy in the first leg of the CAF Champions League preliminary round.
Pirates, who were seeking revenge after being eliminated by Jwaneng on penalties a year ago, secured the win thanks to goals from Tshegofatso Mabasa and Namibian international Deon Hotto.
Although this puts the Buccaneers in a strong position heading into the second leg, Riveiro emphasised that the tie is far from over.
He reminded his players to stay focused, suggesting that the aggregate lead is just like being at halftime in a game, and they cannot afford to lose concentration.
“It’s not over, it’s only the first half of the round and we still have to play another 90 minutes at Orlando (stadium), there is one way to go there, we in the middle of that process.
“We have to play our first game in the league as well. So, from now we thinking about Chippa United,” Riviero said.
“After Chippa we will turn back again to Jwaneng and prepare the game as good as we can in order to win the game.
“We not thinking about we are leading or not leading, we playing at home we want to win every match where we are involved.
“Respecting our opponents as usual but we will prepare ourselves to try and win the second leg.”
The Soweto giants will host Galaxy on Saturday at Orlando Stadium, Riviero’s troops have one foot set in the group stages of the Caf Champions League.
Kickoff is at 18:00.
