Cup Finals Weekend Preview

We take a look at this weekend’s big European Cup Final ties.

Most of Europe’s big leagues are done and dusted but there’s still the matter of the Cups to sort out. This weekend will see a plethora of grand finales, including the FA Cup Final, the Copa del Rey Final, the Scottish Cup Final and the DFK Pokal Final!

We will take a look at all the aforementioned finals below.

Saturday 27 May

Scottish Cup (16:00)

To Win (90 Mins)
Celtic 9/20 | Draw 33/10 | Aberdeen 11/2
To Lift Cup
Celtic 1/4 | Aberdeen 5/2

First up on our ‘Cup Finals’ tour is a trip to the Hamden Park, Scotland, where Celtic will take on Aberdeen. The Hoops have been in fine fettle this term going through their league campaign unbeaten. They finished 30 points above runners-up and this weekend’s opponents, Aberdeen. Brendan Roger’s side are odds on favourites for good reason; they have a squad that is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition and a manager who generally gets his tactics spot on.

The outright winner market offers little in way of value here, unlike the Celtic -1 handicap which is available at a tasty 11/10.

Fa Cup (18:30)

To Win (90 Mins)
Arsenal 32/10 | Draw 26/10 | Chelsea 8/10
To Lift Cup
Arsenal 18/10 | Chelsea 4/10

Both sides come into this match off the back of good wins and goal scoring runs. Alexis Sanchez seems intent to single-handedly win matches, but I can’t see Arsenal beating a Chelsea side that will simply prove too strong on the day.

Diego Costa will be his usual nuisance to the Arsenal defence, while I feel that the Gunners can definitely get a goal against their city rivals. The Matchbet and BTTS option offers great value and works as a handy single bet for what will be a fantastic match.

DFK Pokal (20:00)

To Win (90 Mins)
Eintracht 52/10| Draw 34/10 |Dortmund 9/20
To Lift Cup
Eintracht 11/4 | Dortmund 1/4

Next up on the menu is a tasty German dish which features a Thomas Tuchel delight and a tough Eintracht Frankfurt serving. The former were pipped to their customary runners-up spot in the Bundesliga by surprise package, RB Leipzig while the later could only manage a 12th-place league finish. Both teams have enjoyed magnificent Cup runs, however, with Dortmund’s highlight being their 2-3 semi-final win over arch-rivals Bayern Munich.

Eintracht had the easy run to the final and one suspects they will struggle to deal with Dortmund’s quality. I’m going to avoid the Dortmund Win market, however, as it offers little value. Instead, back the Both Teams to Score – Yes – market at 15/20.

Copa del Rey (21:30)

To Win (90 Mins)
Barcelona 2/13 | Draw 6/1 | Alaves 14/1
To Lift Cup
Barcelona 1/16 | Alaves 8/1

Barcelona to claim a bit of silverware when they take on Alaves in the Copa del Rey Final. The Catalans saw their arch-rivals Real Madrid claim League honours last week, and they will be desperate to salvage some pride from what has been a sub-par season.

While it’s always a bit of a risk backing the Unders market when Barcelona are playing, we just feel Alaves – who were resolute defensively throughout their La Liga campaign – will turn this into a scrap. As such, my money is on the Totals Home Team – Under 2.5 – market which is available at 21/20.
