English Premier League Round 35 Recap

Soccer player celetrabtes goal with shirt pulled over his head

The top four sees Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham, and Chelsea all contesting to maintain or improve their positions. While  Arsenal and Manchester United are squirming to secure a top four finish with only a handful of matches  remaining.

Two goals not enough as Blues held by Burnley

Chelsea moved back into the Premier League’s top four places despite being held to a 2-2 draw against Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues came into the game boosted by their top-four rivals Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham all losing over the weekend, although Burnley arrived on their best run of the season having defeated struggling Cardiff last weekend.

Liverpool keep title hopes alive

Liverpool went back to the top of the Premier League table when they defeated Cardiff 2-0 at Cardiff City Stadium on Sunday.

Bluebirds boss Neil Warnock stuck with the same starting XI which began the crucial 2-0 victory at fellow strugglers Brighton on Tuesday evening.

Arsenal stumble against Palace

Crystal Palace held on for a memorable 3-2 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

The Gunners showed six changes to the team which won 1-0 at Watford on Monday evening, with Carl Jenkinson, Sead Kolasinac, Matteo Guendouzi, Mohamed Elneny, Mesut Ozil and Alex Lacazette recalled.

Everton 4 – 0 Manchester United

Manchester United’s Premier League top-four ambitions took a battering as they were thumped 4-0 by Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.

Both sides came into the game on the back of disappointing defeats as Everton lost 2-0 at relegated Fulham last weekend, while United crashed out of the Champions League at Barcelona in midweek.

City back on top with victory over Spurs

Phil Foden’s first Premier League goal was enough for Man City as they got the better of Tottenham to reclaim top spot in the table.

City were able to gain a measure of revenge for their Champions League exit at the hands of Spurs as they edged a hard-fought encounter at the Etihad Stadium to make it 10 league wins on the bounce.
