German Bundesliga: Gameweek 28 Preview

Bayern Munich’s big-match temperament proved to trump RB Leipzig’s boast of the best defence this season. Die Roten are seven points clear at the top and a lead that big has never been turned at this stage of the Bundesliga as they march towards a ninth straight title.

The UEFA Champions and Europa League spots are still tightly contested with seventh to fourth place separated by nine points and seven matches left in the season, and Borussia Dortmund amongst the lot pushing for the greater competition of the two.

There are some pearly value matches in this weeks’ preview, so be sure to get on and cash out!

Friday 9 April

Arminia Bielefeld 9/4

Draw 9/4

Freiburg 5/4

(20:30)

Bundesliga kicks off in the northwest of Germany at the Bielefelder Alm. Bielefeld have played twice this season on a Friday at home and have lost both fixtures. The Blues still fight relegation and welcome the opposite end of the table, Freiburg, who are challenging for Europa League. You can expect Carlo Boukhalifa to get the Breisgau-Brazilians to make this a heated affair vying for three points. Back Freiburg to take the away win on Friday night.

Saturday 10 April

Bayern Munich 1/3

Draw 44/10

Union Berlin 13/2

(15:30)

Bayern Munich took their league winning streak to five games and their lead to seven points with seven games left this season. They now welcome Union Berlin to the Allianz Arena where they have not lost a game this campaign in all competitions (written before UCL fixture against PSG). The Iron Ones, on the other hand, have only one win in their last five and their trip to Bayern’s fortress is the most difficult of their remaining fixtures this season. Back Bayern to edge closer to a ninth straight title, and 30th overall.

Eintracht Frankfurt 5/4

Draw 5/2

Wolfsburg 21/10

(15:30)

Eintracht Frankfurt have been perfect at the Deutsch Bank Park this season, winning seven and drawing six, and Obite N’Dicka has been a huge part of that in the backline. On the flipside of the coin, Wolfsburg’s away form in the past six fixtures, winning five and losing one and conceding just three goals on the road, is an excellent run. For me, this is the most difficult to call this gameweek, but Both Teams to Score (Yes) & Over 2.5 Goals at even money is the punt.

Hertha Berlin 21/10

Draw 49/20

Borussia Monchengladbach 5/4

(15:30)

The visitors Monchengladbach are favourites despite their poor away form with just two wins in the last 10 away fixtures. Although, I’m not surprised since they do face one of the five teams wrestling to stay in the Bundesliga. The Colts did have a cracking account last season, but their legs could not do the running this campaign with the added Champions League fixtures and it has left them sitting midtable. Back M’gladbach to continue picking themselves up this season at 5/4.

Werder Bremen 52/10

Draw 33/10

RB Leipzig 5/10

(15:30)

After Rasen Ballsport Leipzig failed to keep their title hopes alive against Bayern last weekend, they now travel to Weser Stadium where their only game plan for the remaining fixtures this season is to win every game and hope the log leaders drop points. Werder Bremen are far from the team they need to be when they face Die Roten Bullen with three successive losses to their name. Back Leipzig to walk away with all three and hang on to a thread of the title.

Stuttgart 28/10

Draw 29/10

Borussia Dortmund 8/10

(18:30)

Stuttgart ran through Borussia Dortmund when they travelled to the infamous Signal Iduna Park with a 5-1 away win. Erling Haaland was out with a hamstring injury in the first fixture. Now, the Reds centre-back pairing Konstantinos Mavropanos and Marc-Oliver Kempf will be truly tested when they welcome the Black and Yellows to the Mercedes-Benz Arena. Back the Dortmund to Win & Both Teams to Score at 21/10.

Sunday 11 April

Schalke 23/10

Draw 24/10

Augsburg 11/10

(15:30)

Schalke have not scored a goal at home in five games and conceded an average of 2.07 goals at home this season, scoring just eight goals in their 14 home matches played. Augsburg’s away from is nothing to brag about, but Schalke are three points on a silver platter. Make some money betting on Augsburg and Over 1.5 Goals at 39/20.

Cologne 2/1

Draw 22/10

Mainz 14/10

(18:00)

For the second of two Saturday fixtures, Cologne entertain Mainz at their RheinEnergieStadion, where the Billy Goats have just once tasted victory this season. The battle at the bottom of the table will be an interesting affair and the Both Teams to Score and Totals market – Over 2.5 & Yes at 14/10 is where my money is at.

Monday 12 April

Hoffenheim 7/4

Draw 5/2

Bayer Leverkusen 14/10

(20:30)

The lonely Monday night football slot sees Bayer Leverkusen travel to the Rhein-Neckar-Arena for a much-needed three points to maintain their European aspirations. Die Werkself went on an away streak of five wins back-to-back earlier in the season, but have failed in their last six out of seven away trips, netting just three goals. In the face of their recent away form, I will tip Bayer Leverkusen under the Monday night lights at 14/10.

TREBLE @ 5/1

Bayern Munich Win 1/3

Borussia Monchengladbach Win 5/4

Augsburg Win 11/10
