Bayern Munich let many punters out of their multiples last week Saturday after being held to a 1-1 draw at the Allianz Arena by the visiting Werder Bremen. The Bavarians’ slip up allowed the chasing pack of Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig to narrow the points margin on the log-leaders going into this weekend’s action. Wolfsburg added to Schalke’s woes by claiming maximum points in a 2-0 victory which left their opponents rooted to the foot of the table. Those valuable three points picked up has continued the Wolves’ bright start to the season and kept their undefeated streak in Bundesliga intact. Coach Oliver Glasner’s team come into the clash full of confidence winning three of their last four matches thanks to Dutch forward Wout Weghorst scoring in four of his last five games.
Werder Bremen are currently the league’s draw specialists with five consecutive 1-1 draws against the likes of Freiburg, Hoffenheim, Eintracht Frankfurt, Cologne and most impressively the champions Bayern Munich last time out. The visitors are yet to taste defeat on their travels earning one win and three draws on the road. However, my money is on Weghorst to inspire Wolfsburg to another victory at 15/20 odds.

Borussia Dortmund went into the half time break 1-0 down at Hertha Berlin’s Olympiastadion with Erling Haaland coming to the rescue as the 20-year-old Norwegian striker displayed his dominance with four second half goals to leave the capital with all three points. The Yellow and Blacks are just a point off the summit occupied by Bayern Munic, and if Haaland continues to score at this rate (10 goals in six games – at the time of writing) the Bundesliga shield might finally change hands this season.
Cologne are winless from their opening eight matches which means they’ll be fighting against relegation for the rest of the campaign and are under severe pressure at this early stage. The home win is a banker and Haaland in the Anytime Goalscorer market is well worth a punt. I’m confident in Goals Home: 3+ at 17/20 odds, which came home flying in the previous four meetings between these opponents.

Augsburg earned a valuable point at Borussia Park by sharing the spoils against Borussia Monchengladbach in a 1-1 draw thanks to Daniel Caligiuri’s late strike just two minutes before the final whistle. Augsburg return home to the WWK Arena where coach Heiko Herrlich’s side shocked Borussia Dortmund 2-0 two months ago in game week two of this campaign, yet suffered a 3-0 defeat to Hertha Berlin last week which highlights their inconsistency.
Freiburg need to get back to winning ways, after back-to-back defeats to the much stronger Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig, the “Breisgau Brazilians” will be most disappointed after the loss to Mainz who were rock bottom on the Bundesliga table last week Sunday. Coach Christian Streich’s men have conceded three goals or more in each game during this poor spell of results and if he is to turn the team’s fortunes around it’s exactly where he has to start, shoring up the defence. There’s too much uncertainty to pick a winner, take Both Teams to Score at 11/20 to come in for the fifth straight meeting between these opponents.

Arminia Bielefeld 11/1
RB Leipzig returned from the international break by disappointingly playing out to a 1-1 draw at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Deutsche Bank Park. Julian Nagelsmann’s men will contest a high stakes UEFA Champions League encounter at the iconic Le Parc des Princes against Paris Saint-Germain in midweek before playing host to the newly-promoted Arminia Bielefeld at the Red Bull Arena where they’ve won six games on the bounce across all competitions.
Arminia Bielefeld come off six straight losses which sees them hovering dangerously above the relegation zone. Another worrying sign for last season’s Bundesliga Division 2 winners is that they’ve scored just three times in this woeful run of results. For that reason, I’ll be backing RB Leipzig in the Home Win to Nil market at 9/10 odds.

Eintracht Frankfurt 16/10
Union Berlin will be looking to build on their positive momentum gained from three straight wins against Hoffenheim, Arminia Bielefeld and Cologne. Since the defeat to Augsburg on the opening day, Union Berlin have gone unbeaten in eight matches that has elevated the “Iron Ones” to fifth position on the log. Eintracht Frankfurt impressively hung on for another draw when Adi Hutter’s team hosted RB Leipzig last weekend.
Aside from the defeat to champions Bayern Munich, the Eagles have drawn five times and claimed two victories against Hertha Berlin and Hoffenheim. We’re set for an intriguing contest between two sides who finished ninth and 10th respectively last season. These sides are evenly matched with goals expected at either end. Take Draw-Away/Yes at 23/20 odds in the Double Chance and Both Teams to Score market.

Stuttgart stole a point in a six-goal thriller at Hoffenheim’s Pre-Zero Arena thanks to defender Marc Kempf, who found himself left unmarked at the far post in added time and calmly converted his chance. The draw was Stuttgart’s fourth consecutive stalemate with the Reds not tasting defeat since the opening round against Freiburg.
Bayern Munich were held to a 1-1 draw when the Bavarians hosted Werder Bremen last time out, this ended the champions streak of 10 straight victories across all competition. I expect Bayern Munich to win their 20th straight match against Stuttgart, but surely, you’re looking for more value than 3/10, I suggest selecting Over 4.5 Goals at 14/10 odds in the Additional Totals market.
Borussia Monchengladbach 9/20

Schalke 52/10
Borussia Monchengladbach will be rueing their chance to close the gap on the other UEFA Champions League hopefuls after sharing the spoils in a 1-1 draw against Augsburg who finished the match with 10-men. A lapse in concentration and failure to clear their lines at the most vital time led to two points dropped for Marco Rose’s troops and he wouldn’t be too happy with his goalkeeper Yann Sommer either who was beaten on his near post for the comical equalizer.
This game could prove tricky for the Foals as the UEFA Champions League clash against Inter Milan could be prioritized ahead of this Bundesliga tie. Schalke come off a 2-0 defeat to Wolfsburg that extended their poor start to the season which finds the Royal Blues rooted to the foot of the table and in serious trouble. I can’t see the hosts bottling this one they simply have too much quality, take Monchengladbach in all weekend multiples.

Bayer Leverkusen are yet to taste defeat in the Bundesliga this season, the Werkself claimed a 2-1 victory at newly-promoted Arminia Bielefeld’s Schuco Arena last time out. The hosts have now won five league games on the bounce with Argentine forward Lucas Alario enjoying a rich vein of form, scoring seven times in his last five appearances.
Hertha Berlin just couldn’t handle the brilliance of Haaland, who put the Berliners to the sword in their 5-2 defeat to Borussia Dortmund. Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha has scored for the Old Lady in his last three matches despite inconsistent results. Hertha Berlin did the double over Leverkusen last season but with both sides having an in-form goal scorer each, I’m taking Both Teams to Score confidently at 11/20 as my banker of the weekend.

Hoffenheim 11/10
Mainz moved off the foot of the table by claiming their first win of the campaign thanks to French striker Jean-Philippe Mateta’s first-half hattrick at Freiburg’s Schwarzwald Stadion. Mateta has scored six goals in his last four appearances and needs to keep delivering in order to take his side away from the unwanted fight against relegation.
Hoffenheim welcomed back Croatian forward Andrej Kramaric in the 3-3 draw against Stuttgart and the striker converted his second half penalty to mark his return in style. Kramaric’s goals has been a massive loss for Hoffenheim and everyone at the club will be ecstatic that their star player has fully recovered from covid-19 and is back in the first team. With Kramaric back in the thick of things, I’m going for the Hoffenheim win.
