Germany have announced their provisional 27-man squad with Mario Gotze the most notable absentee.
Manager Joachim Low, who has extended his contract until 2022, has, however, included Manuel Neuer.
The Bayern Munich goalkeeper has been out of action since breaking his foot in September but makes the cut while the man who scored in extra time against Argentina in 2014 to seal Germany’s fourth World Cup, has been omitted.
Germany are in Group F at the World Cup in Russia, along with Mexico, Sweden and South Korea.
