The weekend is upon us, which means more Hollywoodbets Super League action! This weekend we’ve got eight fixtures lined up for you. Early log leaders University of JHB take on UWC, defending champions Sundowns Ladies face First Touch Academy, and newcomers TS Galaxy Queens have a tricky test at home against TUT FC.

Saturday, February 25

City Lads 12/10 | Draw 21/10 | Univ. of Pretoria 21/10 (15:00)

The home side got off to a great start this season with a smash-and-grab victory against TS Galaxy Queens with a penalty goal scored by their captain, Nandipha Booi. They’ll head into this game with a pinch of confidence, facing a side that has lost its opening two games and conceded five goals. The University of Pretoria will need to bring its A-game against the home side, having lost against two fellow newcomers in the division.

City Lads should walk away with a win here.

UWC 13/10 | Draw 2/1 | Univ. of JHB 2/1 (15:00)

Early pace-setters, the University of JHB, travel to Cape Town for an encounter with last season’s runners-up, UWC. This will be a massive test for the students, having registered two convincing victories against sides that played in the Hollywoodbets Super League last season. Their first scalp was a 5-0 win against last season’s strugglers Coal City Wizards, followed by a solid 2-0 win against Durban Ladies. UWC has registered the biggest win this season, thrashing Wizards 9-1.

With Banyana Banyana internationals in their ranks, I think UWC will be too experienced for Univ. of JHB—home side victory.

First Touch 47/10 | Draw 5/2 | Sundowns Ladies 11/20 (11:30) 📺 SABC Sport

Defending champions Sundowns Ladies travel to Limpopo for an early kick-off against First Touch Academy, who have drawn their first two games this season. The last time these sides met, Sundowns won 8-0, with Lelona Daweti scoring four goals. First Touch managed to keep consecutive clean sheets in their first two games, a significant improvement from a side that conceded 48 goals in 30 games last season. Sundowns will be looking to keep their winning start intact this weekend, though, and could prove too strong for the Polokwane outfit.

I’ll be going with a Sundowns Ladies win. I would also add Sundowns on other soccer multiples this weekend.

TS Galaxy Queens 2/1 | Draw 2/1 | TUT 13/10 (15:00)

The home side recorded their first victory in the top flight of South African women’s football in round two against Univ. of Pretoria. TUT will be their biggest test so far in the division, and they’ll be keen to avoid a loss against a side that finished third last season, having already lost to City Lads. Busisiwe Ndimeni, who walked away with the player of the match award in their previous game, comes up against her former side.

I’m on the fence for this one, with both sides quite capable of claiming a win. Double chance: TS Galaxy or TUT win
