Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has included Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa in his preliminary squad for the upcoming 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers
The Orlando Pirates attacker has never been among Broos’ preferred options up front as the Belgian mentor has always leaned towards Iqraam Rayners, Evidence Makgopa and Lyle Foster.
Mabasa is joined by Percy Tau, who returned to regular club action with new club Qatar SC. Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams also makes his return to the national set-up after he was released in the last camp on issues relating to discipline.
Bafana will take on Lesotho and Benin on March 19 and 22 respectively as Mzansi chase automatic qualification from a tight Group C. Rwanda, South Africa and Benin are all tied on seven points with six rounds of matches to go. The trimmed and final squad will be announced in due course.
