Be that as it may, Downs head coach Manqoba Mngqithi has made a vow that Group B will soon shape up to what he has in mind. Sundowns are currently second with two points, led by Rabat who have collected four points while Raja Casablanca managed to bag just one.

“All I can say is that at home, it is always going to be difficult for any other opponent that plays against us.

“I would be lying if I said this is a perfect start for us because in both the matches that we played, we dominated all facets of the game, which is just short of us converting the chances that we got,” said Mngqithi after Sundowns’ 1-1 draw with Rabat in Morocco this past weekend.

“At this stage we have to try and win our matches, and I think we have put ourselves in a good position and probably fortunate that in the Raja and Maniema game there was a draw.

“That puts us in a good position in the group, although one would have loved to have collected six points by now, but unfortunately, in football you must accept. I am very happy with how my players performed and I think at home it will be much better,” Mngqithi added.

Masandawana’s next Champions League match is scheduled for this coming Sunday, December 15, where they will host Raja in the capital city. Mngqithi is certain that Downs will chisel out maximum points in front of their crowd.

“It will be very different because if we could play the way we played against them with all their supporters and making good noise, I liked the atmosphere in the stadium and I think in Pretoria it will be better.

“Otherwise, I think we were just unfortunate to have not won the first game and as Sundowns, we can do better. By the time we finish, this group will look completely different,” Mngqithi said.
