Italian Serie A – Gameweek 9 Preview

Venal Naidu preview gameweek 9 of the Serie A.

Gameweek 9 of the Serie A commences on Friday with another blockbuster set of fixtures on the programme. The question that we have to ask ourselves going into this weekend is: how long will Napoli’s win streak continue for? Alright, now let’s get straight to it!

Friday 22 October

8/10 Torino | Draw 26/10 | Genoa 7/2 (18:30)

Torino take on Genoa in the first game in a lower table clash to kick-start the weekend’s lineup of matches. The hosts have gone down by a goal in each of their last games against strong opposition in the form of Napoli and Juventus. They face a Genoa side who are winless in their last five encounters and it does look like they should find it tough here. The home side should be too strong here.

13/20 Sampdoria | 32/10 | Spezia 7/2 (20:45)

Sampdoria are winless in their last four encounters and find themselves near the foot of the table, they face a Spezia side who returned to winning ways in their last encounter. Both teams find themselves near the foot of the table and this makes it exceptionally difficult to call. With both teams conceding many goals of late, I’m tipping the Total Goals market – Over 2.5 here at 13/20.

Saturday 23 October

16/10 Salernitana | 24/10 | Empoli 16/10 (15:00)

It’s been quite a learning experience for Salernitana in the Serie A thus far as they find themselves at the bottom of the table. They face an Empoli team who are nine places above them in the table in eleventh. Both teams have had ups and downs, but Empoli look to be doing much better and should be able to win this quite comfortably. Back the away side here.

11/20 Sassuolo | 33/10 | Venezia 44/10 (15:00)

It’s another clash of lower table opposition as Sassuolo host Venezia. Both teams have a mixture of form all season and this does look like an extremely tight contest to call. With both teams tied on points, this does make for an exciting battle. I’m tipping the half time draw here at 16/10.

5/2 Bologna | 27/10 | AC Milan 9/10 (20:45)

Bologna host AC Milan in this encounter. The hosts are with one win in their last five games while the visitors have been in impressive form and have won their last four games on the bounce in the Serie A. Milan do look like a team on a mission this season and should be able to win this quite comfortably. Banker the away team.

Sunday 24 October

7/20 Atalanta | 4/1 | Udinese 62/10 (18:00)

Atalanta were emphatic in their last encounter, beating Empoli by four goals to one. They face an Udinese side who can be very hard to break down on their day. With the attacking prowess that Atalanta possess, they should be able to get the job done quite easily here. Banker the home team.

7/10 Fiorentina | 29/10 | Cagliari 7/2 (15:00)

Fiorentina host Cagliari in this clash. The hosts are winless in their last two encounters and will be looking to bounce back here. Cagliari, however, did bounce back to winning ways in their last encounter. Both teams should be trying hard for the victory here and with Fiorentina being at home, they should just edge it. Back the hosts!

21/10 Hellas Verona | 5/2 | Lazio 12/10 (15:00)

Verona went down to a hard-fought encounter with AC Milan in their last encounter. They face a Lazio side who put Inter Milan away in their last game and a repeat of that performance should see them win this quite easily. Back the away team here at 12/10.

17/10 Roma | 5/2 | Napoli 15/10 (18:00)

Roma host a Napoli team who have a 100% record in the Serie A. It is the match of the weekend on paper and should live up to the expectation. Roma fought hard against Juventus last time, but in the end, they could not salvage a point. I’m one to believe in good runs and good form and for that reason, I’m tipping the away team at 15/10.

1/1 Inter Milan | 5/2 | Juventus 23/10 (20:45)

Inter take on Juventus in a mouth-watering clash to end the weekend. Inter currently sit in second while Juventus is on the comeback trail with six wins in a row in all competitions after a shaky start. It promises to be an exciting encounter and for that reason, I’m tipping the half-time draw at 12/10.

Napoli Win 15/10
Fiorentina Win 7/10
