Italian Serie A: Week 25 Preview

Soccer Player About to Strike the Ball

Sampdoria put me out of my 19/2 featured treble last time out, going down 5-1 to Fiorentina! It’s safe to say that I got that one totally wrong! Nonetheless, it’s a new gameweek which brings about more opportunities to capitalize and make a bit of cash. Lazio moved up to second place and remain only a point behind Juventus. Manager Simone Inzaghi has done an excellent job at and will start believing that his team can end Juve’s reign as champions.

Friday 21 February

Brescia 9/2
Draw 33/10
Napoli 11/20

Brescia are six points off safety in 19th place on the standings and almost look a sure bet to be relegated this season. Napoli have been excellent in recent weeks with three wins from their last four matches. The Azzurri are slowly but surely getting back to their best but they are along way from the Champions League places and it’s unlikely they will make that. Still, Napoli are tipped to come away with maximum points.

Saturday 22 February

Bologna 19/20
Draw 5/2
Udinese 28/10

Bologna’s three-match winning streak came to an end last time out with a 3-0 hammering at the hands of Genoa on home soil. Udinese are without a win in their last six matches in all competitions, including four defeats. The reverse tie ended 1-0 in favour of Udinese and I’m expecting another low-scoring matchup. The Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market is tipped at 17/20.

SPAL 13/2
Draw 38/10
Juventus 4/10

Basement-dwellers SPAL have been terrible with four losses on the spin, scoring four goals and conceding 12 times. Log-leaders Juventus bounced back to winning ways last weekend with a 2-0 home victory over Brescia. The Old Lady are priced up at 4/10 but I’m keen on getting more value out of that. Take Juventus on the Half-time/Full-time win at 19/20.

Fiorentina 7/4
Draw 23/10
AC Milan 15/10

Fiorentina are off the back of a shocking but outstanding 5-1 victory away to Sampdoria, ending a run of two losses on the bounce. AC Milan are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 home win over Torino and will be looking to add to that. The hosts will be looking to pick up where they left off, while AC Milan will be hoping to do the same. The Both Teams to Score – Yes – market is tipped at 7/10.

Sunday 23 February

Genoa 15/4
Draw 28/10
Lazio 7/10

Relegation-threatened Genoa have been fighting back of late with two wins on the bounce, scoring four goals without conceding any. Lazio are unbeaten in their last 19 league games and I simply can’t see that coming to an end here. I’m actually excited by the fact that Lazio have the ability to push Juventus all the way this season. Get on the away win.

Hellas Verona 19/20
Draw 24/10
Cagliari 29/10

Hellas Verona are unbeaten in their last nine league matches, including a 2-1 victory over Juventus in their last home game. Cagliari are without a win in their last 11 games in all competitions, including back-to-back defeats. The hosts have form on their side and will be looking to make home advantage count. Back Hellas Verona to get the all-important win.

Torino 23/20
Draw 24/10
Parma 23/10

Torino have been dreadful in recent weeks with five consecutive losses, scoring just twice and conceding 17 times. Parma are coming off a hard-earned 1-0 win away to Sassuolo and will be looking to build on that. Both teams have been shy in front of goal this season which makes for a very dour affair. Get on the Totals – Under 2.5 Goals – market at 17/20.

Atalanta 7/20
Draw 9/2
Sassuolo 13/2

Atalanta have been impressive of late with two wins on the bounce, ousting Fiorentina 2-1 away before seeing off Roma 2-1 at home. Sassuolo are off the back of a disappointing 1-0 home defeat against Parma. La Dea have won the last six meetings against Sassuolo, including a 4-1 win in the reverse fixture. Take Atalanta on the (-1) Handicap at 8/10.

Roma 7/20
Draw 9/2
Lecce 13/2

Roma have been poor in recent weeks with three losses on the trot. Lecce have been in the opposite form with three straight victories. However, as they say, form is temporary and class is permanent. With that being said, I still feel Lecce will at least get on the scoresheet. Both Teams to Score – Yes – looks well worth a punt at 11/20, get on!

Inter Milan 7/20
Draw 4/1
Sampdoria 8/1

If results go Inter Milan’s way, come Sunday they will be competing for top spot. The Nerazzurri have suffered just on defeat at home, while Sampdoria have registered just one three wins from 11 travels this season. Inter won the corresponding tie 3-1 and will be desperate for the win here to stay in touching distance of the table-toppers. The home win is tipped.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 5/1
Lazio Win 7/10
Hellas Verona Win 19/20
Atalanta (-1) Handicap Win 8/10
