Amakhosi put in a courageous defensive effort with goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma in inspired form as the South African team kept what could prove to be a vital clean sheet.

The visitors played most of the game on the back foot and looked to catch the home team on the break.

Wydad started the game strongly with Bvuma called upon several times in the opening half an hour to snuff out any attempts at goal.

Chiefs then caught the hosts cold on the counter-attack in the 34th minute as a quick breakaway saw Njabulo Blom beat the high line and find space down the right-hand the side.

The midfielder sent in a pin-point low cross to Nurkovic and the forward made no mistake with the first-time shot that beat Wydad shot-stopper Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti.

The goal was initially ruled out for offside but after a VAR check the strike stood and Chiefs were in front.

Amakhosi then preserved their lead until the halftime break with Bvuma pulling off another excellent save from a free kick.

The second half followed the same pattern with home side doing all the attacking, Bvuma doing well to deny Ayoub El Kaabi from close-range in the 57th minute.

The Amakhosi shot-stopper then came up trumps again in the 64th minute to deny midfielder Ayman El Hassouni.

From there on Chiefs defended resolutely until the final final whistle to pick up a famous victory away from home.

Amakhosi know that a clean sheet in the second leg of the semifinal to be played at the FNB stadium next week will book their place in the Caf Champions League final.
