PREVIEW: Real Madrid level on points with Barcelona

Barcelona

Real Madrid’s failure to see off Osasuna at the Bernabeu means they’re now level on points with Barcelona at the top of the table as we head into gameweek 8. Both sides will be out to win their respective games this weekend before facing off at the Santiago Bernabeu in the first El Clasico of the season on October 16.

Friday 7 October

27/20 Osasuna | Draw 9/4 | Valencia 43/20 (21:00)

We kick the gameweek off with a tie between Osasuna and Valencia. Osasuna became the first team in La Liga to take points off Real Madrid this season, with the Pamplona-based side earning a creditable 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu last Sunday.

Valencia, on the other hand, scored a 96th minute equaliser to claim a 2-2 draw at Espanyol.

Both teams will go into this one looking for maximum points, but I’m backing the home win as Gennaro Gattuso’s side have been poor away from home.

Saturday 8 October

33/20 Almeria | Draw 22/10 | Rayo Vallecano 18/10 (14:00)

Onto Saturday now and we kick things off with a clash between Almeria and Rayo Vallecano.

The hosts currently find themselves in the relegation zone and will be aiming to end a run of four consecutive defeats, while the visitors will be hoping to build on their 2-1 home win over Elche. The away win is the way to go.

5/10 Atletico Madrid | Draw 33/10 | Girona 56/10 (16:15)

Following victory away at Sevilla, Atletico Madrid will be looking to continue their winning ways against Girona as they look to claw themselves back into title contention.

The newly promoted side, however, will be desperate to avoid a third straight defeat after losing to Real Betis and Real Sociedad. Back Diego Simeone’s men to bag all three points.

37/20 Sevilla | Draw 22/10 | Athletic Bilbao 16/10 (18:30)

Sevilla have endured a disastrous start to the season, having only won one of their opening seven matches. Reports this week have claimed Julen Lopetegui could be sacked imminently, with the Rojiblancos languishing just above the relegation zone.

Athletic Bilbao, on the other hand, are riding a three-match winning streak and will be confident of collecting maximum points. The away win is tipped.

54/10 Getafe | Draw 34/10 | Real Madrid 5/10 (21:00)

Real Madrid will be looking to get back to winning ways after dropping points at home in a 1-1 draw against Osasuna.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side travel to the Coliseum Alfonso Perez to take on a Getafe side who have already suffered four league defeats this term. Back the Spanish and European champions to come away with all three points.

Sunday 9 October

2/1 Valladolid | Draw 47/20 | Real Betis 14/10 (14:00)

Onto Sunday’s fixtures now and the first game we’ll take a look at is between Valladolid and Real Betis. The hosts are languishing in 15th place on the log, just three points above the relegation zone, with only seven points to their name.

The visitors, on the other hand, are fourth in the table, boasting 15 points from their opening seven matches. 14/10 about the away win is generous pricing by Hollywoodbets. Get on.

37/20 Cadiz | Draw 22/10 | Espanyol 16/10 (16:15)

Next up, Cadiz host Espanyol at the Nuevo Mirandilla, with the Andalusian club looking to move above their opponents with victory.

Both sides have struggled for results this season and home advantage may be the decider. I suggest you steer clear of this one, but if you must have a punt, the Half Time Draw looks a decent bet at 19/20.

31/20 Real Sociedad | Draw 23/10 | Villarreal 18/10 (18:30)

Sunday’s penultimate fixture sees Real Sociedad and Villarreal lock horns at the Reale Arena.

The hosts are on a two-match winning streak in La Liga following wins over Espanyol and Girona, while the visitors have drawn their last two, failing to score a goal against 19th-placed Cadiz, before failing to see off out-of-form Sevilla on their home turf.

The last time these sides met, Sociedad ran out 2-1 winners at the Estadio de la Ceramica. My money is on the hosts here at 31/20.

2/7 Barcelona | Draw 48/10 | Celta Vigo 17/2 (21:00)

Barcelona entertain Celta Vigo at the Camp Nou in Sunday’s final fixture. Xaxi Hernandez’s side stretched their winning run in La Liga to five matches with a 1-0 win at Mallorca, while Celta snapped a two-game losing streak with a 1-0 home victory over Real Betis. Robert Lewandowski netted his ninth league goal for Barca this term. Take him as an Anytime Goalscorer.

Monday 10 October

17/10 Elche | Draw 43/20 | Mallorca 7/4 (21:00)

We close out the gameweek with a tie between Elche and Mallorca. The hosts remain winless in the league and rooted to the bottom of the table on just one point after seven matches.

The visitors, on the other hand, sit in 12th position with eight points. Mallorca have been the better of the two sides and I’m backing them to come away with all three points.

TREBLE @ 4/1
Atletico Madrid Win 5/10
Real Madrid Win 5/10
Real Betis Win 14/10
