Battle for the Ultimate Prize
For the first time in ages the title race has been a close contest with Lazio breathing down Juventus’ neck. The difference between the two teams is just one point and there’s still a lot of football to be played. It will be interesting to see if Mauricio Sarri manages to win his first ever league title.
After starting the season like a house on fire and signing a host of players from the English Premier League, Antonio Conte’s Inter are starting to crumble and they’re now nine points adrift of top place. The likes of Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, Ashley Young will be looking to turn the team’s fortunes around.
Fight European Places
Roma and Napoli who currently occupy Europa League spots will be looking to challenge Atalanta and Inter who are slightly above them. On the other hand, AC Milan, Verona and Parma also have a chance to break into the top six and enjoy some continental football next season.
Who Will go Down?
Bottom-placed Brescia are nine points off safety while SPAL are seven points adrift. The only team in the relegation zone with a realistic chance of surviving is Lecce as they’re tied on 25 points with 17th-placed Genoa. They are also one point below Sampdoria who are placed 16th. Torino and Udinese are also not safe yet and the first couple of games after restart will be crucial for all teams in the bottom half of the table.
