Man City v Leicester City Preview

Chelsea Starlet out for Rest of the Season

Manchester City will again be missing Kevin De Bruyne when they take on Leicester City at the Etihad on Monday night.

The Belgium international is struggling with a hamstring injury and will not be risked against the Foxes, while there is also a doubt over fellow midfielder Fernandinho.

The Brazilian is still nursing a knee injury and boss Pep Guardiola will make a late call on the player ahead of the Etihad Stadium clash, as City look to go back top of the Premier League.

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers has no fresh injury worries and Guardiola is well aware that the Foxes are a completely different proposition under the leadership of the former Liverpool manager.

“Leicester were a counter-attack team,” Guardiola said. “With Brendan Rodgers they have another way to play.

“They have incredible quality. I saw the last three games and was really impressed.

“Brendan has shown his incredible qualities as a manager. In two months they already play the way he wants them to play.”

Leicester, meanwhile, have no new injury concerns ahead of Monday’s clash. Rodgers will be hoping he can help former employers Liverpool in the title race by taking some points from defending champions City, who are two points behind the Reds going into Monday’s contest.

The Foxes head into the clash off the back of a 3-0 victory over Arsenal, extending their unbeaten run to two matches, and they will be looking to do the double over the Citizens, having picked up a 2-1 victory in the reverse fixture.

Ghana international Daniel Amartey is the only absentee for Leicester as he continues to recover from an ankle injury sustained back in late October, with Rodgers confirming his squad is in good health.

“Not at this moment in time,” the 46-year-old said, when asked for news of any new injuries.

“There’s a few days to go but, at this moment, everyone is okay.”

Former England international Jamie Vardy, who has scored six goals from his last five matches, is expected to lead the line once again.
