Chelsea second assistant coach Marco Ianni has received a £6,000 fine from the Football Association after accepting a misconduct charge against Manchester United.
The 36-year-old was charged for his actions in the 2-2 draw with United at Stamford Bridge, where Ross Barkley scored a 96th-minute equalizer to spark wild celebrations on the touchline.
Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho took exception to Ianni’s behavior in front of the visiting dugout and went to confront the Italian, which led to a fracas in the tunnel.
Ianni apologized to Mourinho after the match, and Blues head coach Mauricio Sarri subsequently revealed that the club would not contest the FA charge.
Sarri also said he wanted to give his compatriot another chance, having worked with Ianni at Napoli as well, while adding that he would deal with the matter internally.
