Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter feels they need to put a new culture back into the side on and off the field to improve results after their slow start to the season.

As things currently stand in the DStv Premiership, Chiefs are 12th on the table with six points and have won just one of their opening six matches.

In their last match against AmaZulu over the weekend they drew 1-1 after grabbing the equaliser in the 93rd minute via a Keagan Dolly penalty.

Baxter, however, is not too worried about the slow start to the season and says he is more concerned with trying to instil a new culture and on-field identity at Naturena in order to improve results.

“In the bigger scheme of things, it’s very early to look at the table,” Baxter said. “The teams at the top, we probably have to play all of them, so if we can take the points off them then we can close that gap

“It is just really important for us, as supporters, staff, players, to look at putting back together a culture around the team, putting back together a team that has an identity and a way of playing.

“We’ve got to understand our performances, and the individual performances, when they get better, then we will get that [extra] 10%. If we get that 10%, I promise you, we will be difficult to beat,” he added.

Chiefs play again on 16 October, after the international break, when they face Chippa United at FNB Stadium.
