Castro made his first appearance for Chiefs since June, in their 1-0 win over Maritzburg United on Sunday, when he came on as a substitute in the 86th minute replacing Keagan Dolly.

The 32-year-old’s return was welcomed by coach Baxter, who said he planned on using Castro in small short bursts until he was up to playing a full 90 minutes again.

“Nice to see Leo Castro back on the field,” Baxter said after the match.

“He’s not ready by a long way yet but I’m hoping to give him 10 minutes, 10 minutes, 10 minutes [in the coming games] and then see how quickly we can get him back.”
