Pirates were excellent in a dominant first-half display at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday where Happy Jele netted on 13 minutes.

City, however, bounced back after the break, with Mduduzi Mdantsane levelling from the penalty spot with 54 minutes played.

Pirates’ Man of the Match Pule says he expected all three points.

He said in the Citizen: “I think we played very well, especially in the first half. We had to convert our chances, but we didn’t.

“They are a very good side, the came back and they play good football. But I’m a little bit disappointed with the result, I think we were supposed to win the game.”

On being handed his match award, Pule added: “I would like to dedicate this trophy to the guys, they really fought hard and we played as a team.

“I had to listen to instructions and the coach said I must help when we defend. All I had to do was Paseka Mako when we defend and when we are on attack I must also join the attackers.”
